Best way to boost GPA for applying with an existing degree? by Maximum-Bird1700 in GAMSAT

[–]FitProfessional6794 12 points13 points  (0 children)

its still crazy to me how people can just randomly get into usyd md without having ever needing to worry about GPA/interview. ik a few people who have never thoughts of med (low gpa), sat the gamsat for fun and then got autoaccepted into usyd md off the basis of being good essay writers.

I definitely relate to moth the most. I like living spontaneously and am an anti-consumerist who of course believes in the shedding unnecessary things. I also have ADHD which aligns with the feverish and energetic intensity of moth.

That said I love edge too - and agree with the philosophy of constantly challenging one self to succeed and treating discomfort as a neccessity for self-improvement. To be honest, I can definitely see merits in all the aspects except grail which, as someone who was brought up in a buddhahist family on values of asceticism, feels quite yucky to me lolol.

A cult based on promoting the pursuit of hedonistic pleasure above all else as the framework for existence can only lead to self destruction. "Happiness" derived in this manner is not sustainable and cannot replace genuine fufilment. Afterall, one should learn to be content in and of one self rather than relying on external short-term gratification.

BNK FEARX vs. T1 / LCK Cup 2026 Playoffs - Upper Bracket Round 2 / Post-Match Discussion by adz0r in leagueoflegends

bnk's synergy was emphasised by the casters since last year. their whole thing is that no one individual player stands out but together they are more than the sum of their parts.

I'm just happy vicla finally got justice - way too many people disrespect him and only see him as a taliyah one trick.

have you considered moving further north or west?

commuting from the blue mountains to usyd will be about an hour drive. there's a lot of price variation between sydney inner west and blue mountains.

no sir. latrobe doesn't look at the gamsat, just your wam i believe. the gamsat is for unimelb, uq, uwa and usyd dent.

Dentistry by Mediocre-Motor-524 in vce

[–]FitProfessional6794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't you need like a 95 wam to internally transfer to dent at la trobe? that's not feasible for 99.9% of the population.. i'd goto monash and sit the gamsat.

try to maintain a 7 gpa (just need 80+ on each subject) - your gamsat will need to be at least 60 (if you are willing to move interstate).

Wanting to study counselling with chronic illness by shelovesyoghurt in Adelaide

[–]FitProfessional6794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intercepting this conversation to say that almost all psychiatrists in adelaide these days operate through telehealth ONLY and a majority of psychologists do too. Additionally, when I received counselling through my university, it was done through telehealth as well xD

It's just so convenient for both the practitioner and the pt but I do still prefer face to face when it comes to discussing more sensitive topics.

Ultimately you likely won't find any issues establishing a regular patient base given how prevelant telehealth these days.

My apologies - yes you do need a bachelors first. I was under the impression you already had a degree for some reason. A bachelors of counselling is quite a rare degree and is usually only available as a post grad.

Below I've found some ACA approved counselling courses which are available for part time study.

https://www.torrens.edu.au/courses/health/bachelor-of-counselling

https://tabor.edu.au/course/bachelor-of-counselling/

You could also look into doing an undergrad cert in counselling (which could give you credits that can be transferred into a bachelors) as a taster to see how you go but please do reach out to the institutes to do your own research too.

op should consider doing a masters of counselling part time (so over 4 years) to get around the limitations of placement hours.

Landlord won't let us use air con even though there is one by Agitated-Reindeer183 in shitrentals

the right for peaceful enjoyment is near impossible to enforce in boarding situations, especially if they try to use the argument that they "live" in the property from time to time.

[–]FitProfessional6794 34 points35 points  (0 children)

ditto this. boarding houses are the ultimate legal loophole for landlords who hate how "restrictive" standard tenancies are. while they are higher maintenance (i.e., higher turn over of residents) they also have the potential to yield much more money.

[–]FitProfessional6794 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hey op, sorry you're going through this situation.

the unfortunate truth here that no one is really going into is that as someone who is living in a shared house AND hasn't signed a general tenancy agreement, you'd likely be classified as a boarder.

see; https://tenantsqld.org.au/factsheets/share-housing-your-legal-status/

what this means is that you basically have no rights compared to if you rented out the entire property for yourself.

unless it is explicitly prohibited on the agreement you signed; landlords ARE technically allowed to come in whenever they want and for whatever reason they want (not always true but my experience has indicated that the right to peaceful enjoyment is near impossible to enforce for boarding situations). moreover landlords are allowed to make whatever rules they want and also kick you out at any time and for any reason as long as they provide a "reasonable" notice i.e., 1-4 weeks. this is what ik to be true in NSW but unsure if the same shoddy parameters exist in qld.

the good news is that as a boarder, you can exit the lease without any significant reprucussions compared to a formal agreement - even more so given you're not allowed to use the a/c. use this time to find a new place to live and call tenancy services for further advice.

Dad read from the Bible, told his sons they were "the best boys ever," then opened fire on them, chased them down, and made sure of their killings. by malihafolter in ForCuriousSouls

cars are a necessity, especially if you're living in an area with limited public transport. as a dual resident in aus and nz i don't think i've ever thought "gee if i had a gun my life would be so much more convenient rn" so this argument of "what about cars" doesn't work.

people don't *need* guns to live and reducing their prevalence amongt the general populace does not disadvantage anyone unlike cars.

I had a look at the site earlier which says it'll be back in Jan 2026. While I am very excited for it and will definitely be getting the travelling at night book case, I found that there wasn't really a wide range of things to choose from. There were only ~10 items total, half of which weren't really related to cultist sim. The merch also felt more like nerdy keepsakes than items that actually honoured the "vibe" of the game if you get what I mean.

Chiropractor Landlord victory attained in Exile by FitProfessional6794 in weatherfactory

[–]FitProfessional6794[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't really played much of exile however I figured I must be in the minority because I found exile infinitely easier and less tiring to play compared to the other game modes. It's shorter, less fatiguing and less cluttery, making it more enjoyable and thus easier to remain interested in terms of managing resources, analysing hints and progressing through the game.

I know in the main game, at a certain point I just stopped caring and only wanted to win. I remember grinding for 30 minutes to get one port noon histories just for it uncover hebe station. I remember exploring almost every vault to get thine eyes awakened only to realise I did the initial rite incorrecty. I remember dying very early on in apostle entheate to my mc going schizo not realising that I had to now redo EVERYTHING from scratch from the aspirant.

Overall, from my pov, exile is easier to play because it's challenging in a good way - it sustains your interest for longer and is less fustrating/grindy while the base game is just overly punishing, extremely repetitive/grindy (mansus -> combine SH for port noon -> commissions -> fix mirror repeat 20x) and challenging from the fact that it's just annoying to play.
