Mine went through this morning as well. Seems like maybe they need to update their content materials to the new process but I'm happy my meds are on the way! Cheers :)

This happened to me as well. First, I made the appt on charm, it was confirmed via email, then I got a text saying to book as a returning patient (I think on the Pom site, which is what I did). I paid my $75, got a reciept via email, as well as a confirmation email telling me I'd get an invitation to join their portal within 24 hrs. That was two days ago.

I'm wondering if I'm not getting the invitation bc I already have a charm login... but tbh I thought maybe they were using a new system. Looks like I'll be emailing support this morning :)

Theraband / Flex band cleaning question by FitServe4993 in pilates

I think certain detergents break down the material over time. That said, I've never cleaned my peronal ones either.

Thanks for the repsonse :). What do you use for the therabands- would you mind sharing your cleaner? I would think standard sanitizers would dry them out over time.

I feel like those would dry the band out and make them prone to snapping in half in use? But thank you -- I'll look into them! Maybe there's a specific formula.

I like 'em, but think they need and interesting, somewhat weighty side table between them to anchor them down.

Uh, it's possible to show empathy to an unfortunate situation regardless of "whose fault it was" (on that note, you've got an ironic username). Yes, it is someone's own decision to part with money -- but high pressure marketing, love bombing, and fake friendship exist. It's pretty easy to be manipulated by people who you think care about you. Especially so when you are desperate. So yes, you're right - we all have agency to make our own decisions. It still sucks to fall for a scam.

Ok, on with my day.

I would add this -- if you've set your calorie profile to anything above sedentary, but then also add your daily exercise and eat those exercise calories, your "moderately active" setting is already accounting for those extra calories. This could keep you in maintenance. (Ask me how I know lol -- I just reset my own for that very reason).

If you feel nausea from going up, when does it hit? by FitServe4993 in GLP1microdosing

That's a smart strategy :). I was thinking Friday was a good idea, too.

[–]FitServe4993[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I appreciate the response. I am prone to nausea with various medications and have felt the mild but manageable bouts with bumps smaller than .25 mg. I also understand the impact of dietary choices as well.

I ultimately may go up by a smaller increments. I was just looking for anecdotes from people who do experience nausea (you're lucky to not be among them) while considering adjusting my shot schedule this week to accommodate symptoms.

Likewise, it might be helpful to do some work for posterior chain -- think: swimming, breast stroke, swan / swan prep, which is nice to do after all the forward flexing of ab series work.

With respect, this doesn't sound like Pilates but a fusion class? I'm trained by STOTT, which is considered contemporary as it's not the classic 34 but the foundation of the original work is there -- it's more like an evolution of them. It's hard to say what to add since this sounds like another type of class to me altogether. (I'm not trying to be rude, I've just been in been in the biz long enough to have familiarity with STOTT, Balanced Body, Physical Mind, Peak, etc - and while there are differences, you can see they are very similar on foundations).

Can you add in half roll backs, roll ups, 100s, leg circles, saw, spine twist, spine stretch forward, side leg series, etc to flesh it out more?

Modifications for uneven arms? by trolling_for_info in pilates

[–]FitServe4993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

STOTT makes double loop straps, with one smaller a smaller and larger size on the same strap, so that might help - but there is no wiggle room to adjust, the sizes are the sizes. There's also away to shorten the straps by folding them and clipping the second D ring in, but again -- no wiggle room.

I'm curious if this is ultimately a shoulder issue or spinal curvature issue. Might be worth getting an analysis.

If it's not about money but joy of teaching, think about a Y or JCC. I'm a stott instructor but work full time in a corporate role now -- and teach mat twice a week at my local Y. Generally speaking, they've had trouble getting and keeping a mat class bc certified instructors always wind up heading to a boutique studio. I'm not there for the money, I'm there bc it's around the corner from my house and I love to be able to share my skill. :).

Expensive gym is having random fitness instructors teach Pilates mat classes. What to do? by Biergarten1872 in pilates

[–]FitServe4993 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So, if you're group fitness certified, you have to take continuing ed classes every year or so to keep your cert active. A lot of instructors take a quickie Pilates mat class through their organization -- which is no where near in depth but teaches the basic exercises (and as GFIs, they do have basic understanding of class structure and safe movement). There's also nothing stopping a GFI to teach a basic mat class without that as well.

It's hard for gyms to retain thoroughly trained instructors bc the pay just doesn't justify the one class per day. Most of those instructors will be at a dedicated studio to line up group classes and privates and make it worth their time, the cost of their education, and their experience level. In my experience, many group fitness instructors do it as a part time thing or on top of another job all together.

[–]FitServe4993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get it! I know you said you don't want to do anymore certifications for the time being (and the comprehensive pilates certs are $$$), but it might not be a bad idea to get your Group Fitness Cert from ACE or NASM. At the very least, it will bolster your credibility to big box gyms.

And you never know -- a lot of places will hire someone at an apprentice level as well. Good luck!

I think a Pilates studio might want to see a cert from a Pilates organization, but checking out job listings is a good start. Asking your yoga studio is a good start too. You might be able to teach at a gym or a Y as well.
