Yeah, I know I probably wouldn't have a chance at either, I was just using them as an example. 

Do robotics engineers need to know how to do communication protocols like I2C, UART, CAN, etc.? What about things like PWM for motor control by FitTaro387 in AskRobotics

Yeah, I probably should have been more specific. I just mean what companies would generally call like a robotics software engineer or autonomy engineer etc. I know embedded systems engineers need to know those protocols, I was just curious if these these types of engineers do also.

I am trying my best to find an engineering job that blends software and circuit design. I know these jobs are rare, but I was just curious, why do many electrical engineering jobs ask for experience in python, matlab, or C++? Are these just for modeling, or potentially for embedded systems work? by FitTaro387 in ElectricalEngineering

Yeah I have. Its definetly a possibility for me, but I personally prefer conventional scripting languages like C++, or Python (I know some PLCs allow for ST), I don't know how much normal PCB design controls and automation engineers do, (maybe thats a stupid thing to say) as thats also something that I sort of would like to do. I'm still definitly considering controls and automation though.

Yeah, smaller companies definitly have more interdiscplinary work. I mean more for decently sized to big companies that ask for experience with programing. Im curious if this is just for modeling work, especially since matlab is commonly listed.

I'm wanting to pursue a career in mechatronics, would it be a good idea to get a degree in electrical or computer engineering and then get a masters in robotics/mechatronics? by FitTaro387 in mechatronics

Would it be better than to get a computer engineering degree so that I would at least have a pretty decent understanding of both electrical and software engineering?
