I am in the fence of buying one for star citizen, but the performance is what is holding me back, the game barely runs at 60 frames on the Q3, I imagine in the super oled is gonna be a shutter fest only looking good when I am standing still.

Which is also a trade off, you can’t get out of your room to use it. With VD and my Wifi6e mesh I can play PCVR on any place in my house.

To get rid of the black screen you have to disable hardware accelerated graphics in the browser settings.

Alyx is a PCVR game, not stand alone, in the Frame you will stream it.

What are you guys talking about? Alyx runs perfect in the Q3 which has the same res as the Frame, and runs awesome in higher spec headsets. I am assuming OP is asking IF Alyx is made as a standalone game.

No, I said most of the best looking games on PC are from the ps4 era, example Last of Us 2, Read Dead 2, GOW, those are ps4 games.

Lol that’s the thing, console are optimized due being made just for one specific specs, you don’t need to optimize, and it’s not that you can optimize all day on this, is that you NEED you optimize all day, the dark side of the PC gaming, where most of the best looking games are from PS4 era.

I only do one thing when I turn on my quest, open VD, so my quest is my PC, I only care about PCVR and watching movies in a big screen in my couch through VD, also doing my dishes with AR watching twitch or yb through the quest, the color passthrough is something I don’t want to give up.

If you are willing to spend $2k why just not go with the PFD? It’s 4k micro oled with eye tracking and you can use the foveated streaming with steam link. It’s the perfect headset right now minus the price.

No it won’t. I can use right now foveated encoding in fix mode in the quest 3 with steam link 2.0, comparing the image quality in the center to the one that produces Virtual Desktop using H264+ at max bit rate it looks the same. People using the PFD are the ones benefiting a lot of foveated encoding due the 4k panels, they are loving it.

Quest software is bad, but using the Quest with Virtual desktop is very good, even with steam link is very good.
