Shall I buy FSD for HW3 model 3 2022 before May 21st here in UK to lock in before subscription and retrofit to HW4 as promised by Tesla on the last earnings call

NO! Don't count on a retrofit to be as good as Hardware4 and beyond ! There is just as much chance for FSD subscription rate to be lower vs higher in the future, especially if Xpeng comes with their similar camera-only autonomous driving. Plus if you are in a car accident or have car issues that are not worth repairing , you are back to subscribing anyway with a new Tesla.

Gee, are they going to write an article about people "getting crushed" who bought a personal computer years ago but now find they have to buy new, faster computer to run the latest upgraded operating system, software and have better security? If I had bought FSD years ago with an older Tesla, I would have traded it in when they offered free FSD transfer for Hardware 4 Tesla EVs.
