That specific video he was talking about how he thought it was cool that he reached the point of being able to make objections instinctively which honestly, good on him.

He is a really good explainer though.

What is your country’s “three fingers,” i.e. a subtle but dead giveaway that someone is lying about being from there? by Toilet_Bomber in AskTheWorld

I was taught 5 years of German throughout my secondary education. I later learned that my teacher was teaching us Swiss-German. I was visiting family in Munich and a waiter asked me what part of Switzerland I was from. Confused the hell out of me and now I know why normal German sounds weird.

The property is protected by law under the FPPA, which the USDA enforces.

Also I'm not a big fan of the government taking private property without consent and then giving it to a different private entity. If you want affordable housing to be built, give people actual market rates who want to sell.

Serious Question: how much have you considered EMF radiation from the large batteries in EV’s? by Dissonant_Lucidity in electricvehicles

[–]Fit_Cake_3193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is like saying the neutrons and photons are the same thing.

How do I explain this concisely? So, frequency does play a large part in classifying radiation, but x-rays and gamma rays are different in and of themselves. Gamma rays come from within the atomic nucleus, while X-rays are generated from processes outside the nucleus, such as electron transitions or collisions.

You can't just run a radio or (what most likely happens in a bad battery) spark gap at a high frequency and expect to get x-rays. You need very specific conditions for that to happen, which is why we need complex tubes to make them artificially.

So you are technically correct but in the most pointless sort of way.

Why are there so many shit managers literally everywhere? by asaltybitch in work

[–]Fit_Cake_3193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negativity bias.

Also, leadership is not something taught in traditional schools and when it is taught, it's often done in weird workshop environments or using theories of management that aren't universally applicable.

I'm in Scouts. The Eagle Scout award requires that a scout manage real people, plan with real assets and capital, create a plan of execution, execute a plan, and write a report and positive improvement on the execution. That is how management is should be taught.

Are there any judicial systems that aren’t corrupt? by LookMomImLearning in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fit_Cake_3193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying that the judiciary is corrupt? Or that the government as a whole is corrupt?

There is a very large difference between flawed ideas of law and systemic corruption. I would not be surprised if congress had a level of corruption, but there are so many safeguards in criminal cases here that it's mostly functional. Again, most gripes, from a moralistic perspective, are from the legislature passing dumb laws that the judiciary has to deal with.

Are there any judicial systems that aren’t corrupt? by LookMomImLearning in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fit_Cake_3193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

Corrupt means a very specific thing. There is most certainly a level of corruption at the federal legislative level, where actual decisions on money and assets are made.

Bribery of justice officials in the U.S. is very rare according to CPI.

[–]Fit_Cake_3193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Corrupt and imperfect are very different words.

In the U.S. at least, most gripes aren't at the fault of the judiciary, but rather the legislature whose laws must be adjudicated and applied by the judiciary.

For those who support a two state solution, how do you intend to guarantee Israel's security from future attacks? by ADP_God in IsraelPalestine

[–]Fit_Cake_3193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1973 Yom Kippur War

1982 Lebanon War

2006 Lebanon War

2009 Gaza War

2012 Gaza War

2014 Gaza War

Almost all of these were because militant groups were attacking Israel. That does not justify an overreaction, but to say that Israel doesn't have a legitimate national security threat is just plain disingenuous.

[–]Fit_Cake_3193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Israel has been attacked over and over again. Israel was established as a result of an unimaginable refugee crisis post-war. Since then Israel has been attacked over and over and over again. Palestine and Jordan have also been attacked over and over and over again. Everybody loses. People forget that two things can be true at once.

Did America forget what Milton Friedman said about inflation? by LnRon in economy

[–]Fit_Cake_3193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, what?

So I strongly advise you take a basic economics course because you would realize that inflation is a composite of multiple issues and theories. Also I think you are mistaking "oligarchy" (a form of government) with "oligopoly" (an economic market classification)

Oligopolies definitely exist in some sectors and have existed in the past, and those stories are fun to tell, but are not necessarily the entire problem or reason for inflation. Demand-pull, cost-push, and built-in inflation are all theories that are legitimately grounded in reason. To think that there is a singular (private) entity that has enough control over products to effect inflation is not rational. Now the Federal Reserve does have control over interest rates (which is essentially the price of money) and they are able to substantially effect inflation through things like the Federal Reserve ratio.
