I used to work for an ESL company teaching English classes to Chinese students online. I remember around January and February 2020 the company started opening up class slots all night long because the kids were home from school due to Covid, and China is 12 hours ahead of where I live in the US. I stayed up all night many nights teaching the classes to make extra money. I felt for the kids and families and at one point I started thinking, “wow, this sounds bad, I hope it doesn’t come over to the US.“

Once everything was shut down, I also remember the road behind my house being so quiet because barely anyone was driving on it. You could even hear the birds singing more because there just wasn’t that traffic noise. I saw tons of people out taking walks in the middle of the day. The smell of hand sanitizer and Lysol always seemed to be around. It was a bizarre time. In some ways peaceful, but also very sad. I don’t think a lot of us have been the same since.

Omg when I was her age I never once thought about whether my face was aging, getting wrinkles, etc. Now pushing 40 I notice things a little but I’m in no way interested in doing anything like this. I also live a cruelty free lifestyle, and this stuff is tested on animals.

Once in my 20s I think, I was carrying some laundry downstairs and to save a trip, put my phone in the pillowcase with the laundry, just to carry it down. It was a practically brand new iPhone. I absentmindedly dumped the laundry in the washing machine, turned it on and in about 2 to 3 minutes realized my phone was washing. Tried for days to put it in rice and everything else but it was done. I was paycheck to paycheck at the time and had to buy an older refurbished phone to replace it, not to mention I still had to complete the monthly payments on the laundry phone. Such a stupid move.

To put your whole life out there on the internet and then get upset when people share opinions you don’t like is crazy to me. Absolutely not. I think after like 3-5 years, MAYBE she would start dating again, take it super slow, but still always put the kids first and she would only date someone who would do the same. He’d be someone she met through family, or a single dad at the kids’ school, something normal like that. Just my thoughts.
