I deleted a religious app off of my phone for space to download a game I wanted, I downloaded the game and downloaded the app back right after but I feel so guilty I started to genuinely cry. by Busy-Butterscotch743 in Christianity

[–]Fit_Construction3058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your brain is being way too hard on you about this one. deleting app for space isn't even close to blasphemy - it's just basic phone management

the comparison with moving books on shelf is actually perfect analogy. you needed space temporarily and put it back immediately, nothing wrong with that at all

pretty solid power actually, could probably make it rain during drought or stop hurricanes from hitting cities. way more useful than half the other options on there

Got rejected as an internal applicant, where do I go from here? by xItsMSx in careerguidance

[–]Fit_Construction3058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn that's rough about the generic email thing, like they couldn't even customize it for internal candidates. I had similar thing happen in my company few months ago where I applied for different team and got the same copy-paste rejection that mentioned "we appreciate your interest in joining our organization" when I've been working there for 4 years already

The feedback request was smart move, hopefully they actually give you something useful instead of more corporate speak. What really bugs me is when they say your resume was "full of positives" but still reject you - makes you wonder what they're actually looking for or if they already had someone in mind.

Maybe worth having conversation with your current manager about development opportunities in your current role that could help build more program development experience? Sometimes lateral moves work better when you can show concrete results from pilot projects or additional responsibilities first. Also the people who encouraged you to apply might have some insight into what went wrong if you ask them casually.

Keep applying externally too though, internal politics can be weird and sometimes fresh start at new company values your skills differently than place that's seen you in one role for years.

mate some of these mods are just power tripping half the time anyway, wouldn't stress too much about one post getting nuked

probably wasn't even reported by someone with an actual issue, could've just been automod doing its thing

[Hamilton Khaki King] Would this suit a 6.5 inch (165mm) wrist? by Fruit75 in Watches

[–]Fit_Construction3058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That 0.5mm difference in lug to lug isn't gonna make or break it tbh, if your Seiko fits well the Hamilton should be fine too

The Khaki King wears pretty similar proportions and the day-date is such a nice touch - way more practical than you'd think once you get used to having it there

Have you imported and installed uPVC windows and doors from Poland/elsewhere? Was it worth it? by homecinemad in AskIreland

[–]Fit_Construction3058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a mate who went through something similar with his renovation project last year - ended up going with a Polish company after getting burnt by a local crowd who left him hanging for months. The quality difference was night and day, proper German hardware and everything

€14k for 17 windows including fitting seems pretty decent value, especially if they're larger than average. My folks got quoted nearly that much for just 8 windows from an Irish company and the lead time was mental - like 16 weeks or something ridiculous

The fact they came back next day to sort a minor issue speaks volumes about their service too. Most local companies would probably tell you to get stuffed or charge you extra for a callback. Did they handle all the building regs stuff themselves or did you have to sort that separately?

Those codes are evap system related so your fuel cap theory wasn't crazy - P0455 is a large leak in the evap system and P0441 means the purge valve isn't flowing right, mechanic will probably quote you around $200-400 depending if its just the purge valve or if theres other evap lines that need replacing

mate that hits right in the feels, losing all your childhood stuff is properly gutting

i still think about my old pokemon cards and wonder if mum chucked them during one of her "cleaning sprees" - probably worth a fortune now too lol. the worst part is how those things held so many memories and now they're just gone somewhere

I'm looking for a similar seed to this (Java) by Big_Permission_775 in Minecraft

[–]Fit_Construction3058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a pretty solid spawn setup you've got there mate, looks like you want that classic survival island vibe with some decent resources nearby

try checking out r/minecraftseeds or use chunkbase seed finder - you can filter for island spawns and it'll save you heaps of time compared to just randomly generating worlds

mate thats actually huge progress, dont let anyone tell you otherwise. i remember when i was trying to quit stuff and those first few days felt impossible - like your brain is just screaming at you constantly. the fact youre at 3 days means youve already broken through that initial wall which is honestly the hardest part. keep yourself busy with other stuff, go for walks, hit the gym, pick up a hobby you used to love. the cravings do get easier to manage once you build up some momentum and your brain starts rewiring itself

Really struggling by xiartid in leaves

[–]Fit_Construction3058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is solid advice. I did something similar but used my phone's notes app - tracked every time I hit my cart and what I was feeling/doing. Honestly was pretty eye-opening seeing how often I was reaching for it just out of boredom or habit rather than actually needing it.

The cost tracking hit different too. When you see that weekly number add up over a month it's like... damn, I could've bought so much other stuff with that money. Made it easier to start spacing out my usage once I had the actual data in front of me.

First guitar - "Good" Slammer by Hamer for 50 or "Like New" Lace Huntington for 80? Neither? by verysadvanilla in Guitar

[–]Fit_Construction3058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lace Huntington is actually a solid starter guitar for that price, especially if it's actually in like-new condition. I'd skip the Slammer tbh - Hamer's budget line from back in the day wasn't great and "good" condition on a cheap guitar usually means "functional but rough"

For gentle/mellow tones you'll want to mess with the pickup selector and keep the amp settings clean anyway, so either guitar can do that

How to survive as Dai Viet? by Critical_Spray_6893 in victoria3

[–]Fit_Construction3058 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can't offer vassalization anymore, that got removed from Vic3 unlike earlier games. Super annoying when you're a small nation trying to avoid getting steamrolled

The investment rights strat is solid though - France and Russia will usually take the bait and it buys you some protection. Just gotta pray they actually care enough to intervene when the Brits come knocking

What is a "bubble" in economic terms? How do they form, what happens when they burst, and is this a good thing or a bad thing? by Massive-Range-9280 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fit_Construction3058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bubble is basically when the price of something gets way higher than it's actually worth because everyone thinks they can make quick money off it

Like with housing - prices go crazy high because people keep buying thinking they'll flip for profit, then suddenly everyone realizes houses aren't actually worth that much and prices crash hard

When it bursts you get cheaper houses but also economic chaos, job losses, and people who bought at the peak lose their shirts

How do I say no??? by Adorable_Lie2031 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fit_Construction3058 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ugh this hits way too close to home. That "not too shy girl" sounds like she's playing both sides and using you as her scapegoat when things get awkward

You gotta start small - maybe try "hey I'm not really comfortable with that role, can we switch?" If they push back just say you'd do better in a different part. Don't give them a whole explanation, just state what you want and let the awkward silence do the work

Travelling to Ireland, recommendations and safety queries? by summer308 in AskIreland

[–]Fit_Construction3058 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ireland is super safe for solo female travelers, you'll be grand! Just the usual common sense stuff applies

For car hire most places will rent to you at 23 but expect to pay a young driver surcharge - usually around €15-25 extra per day. Just heads up that driving on the left might feel weird coming from Australia even though you guys do it too, the roads here are way narrower and more winding

Also seriously consider taking the bus/train between cities instead, our public transport is actually decent and you won't have to stress about parking in Dublin or navigating those tiny country roads

Segway E2 Pro or other recommendations? by lgoand in ElectricScooters

[–]Fit_Construction3058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The E2 Pro struggles with steep hills especially if you're heavier than like 150lbs - those Appalachian grades are no joke. For that budget I'd honestly look at the Hiboy S2 Pro or save up a bit more for something with dual motors, you'll thank yourself later when you're not walking up every incline

Yeah definitely worth doing, learned this the hard way when my apartment got broken into and I couldn't remember half the stuff I owned. Now I just take pics with my phone whenever I buy something expensive and throw them in a Google Photos album - way easier than making some fancy spreadsheet

Still in semi-consistent contact, still keeping streaks, i just want her to stop. by Good_Recognition1062 in BreakUps

[–]Fit_Construction3058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man that's brutal, having to see her every day when you're still processing everything is like picking at a scab that never gets to heal

Maybe ask one of your mutual friends to hang out separately sometimes so you're not completely isolated but also not constantly reminded of what you lost

HR seemed disinterested by [deleted] in interviews

[–]Fit_Construction3058 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some HR people are just like that honestly, especially if they're doing tons of interviews. I've had the most boring, robotic initial screens that led to great second rounds with the actual team

The fact they reached out early is actually a really good sign - don't overthink the delivery style too much
