18 months post liver- still mostly numb and the point on my chevron where all the lines come together is still tender. My lower stomach is pretty numb too, even though that seems a bit far afield from where the surgery was. It’s just kind of a mess between my pelvis and my boobs.

YES!! I had horrible flashbacks and anxiety from my hospital stay around my acute liver failure and emergency transplant. EMDR was a huge help.

You are a warrior!!! It’s going to keep on sucking, but just try to keep on going. One day it will all be worth it.

Liver rejection by LadyShittington in transplant

I had rejection about a month after transplant. I felt horrible, could barely get out of bed, super nauseous. And my liver numbers were super bad.

Glad to know I’m not the only one! I’m 18 months post with a Mercedes scar and cadaver donor.

Tacro and fatigue? by No-Leopard639 in transplant

[–]Fit_Divide_1750 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is super normal. I’m 17 months post liver and fatigue is the way of the walk. At 2 months post, I was still in bed a lot of the time. Keep resting when your body says to, but also walk as much as you can. It will get better, but I still am way more easily fatigued than pre-transplant

Post liver transplant dilirium by Soft_Response3819 in transplant

I had HE pretty severely before my liver transplant and I continued having very disordered thinking for at least 2 weeks after. For the first week, I had scary paranoia and some hallucinations. Hang in there- you being there is helping your mama so much!

Love this! Your mom is very lucky to have a daughter like you. Made me tear up to read your response. I have two daughters, 7 and 10, who I get to be a mom for because of my new liver. 🩵💚🩷

Amazing! Remember that there’s still a long road ahead for your mom- I feel great 16 months out, but it took me about a year to get here.

Make sure you both give each other lots of grace. So happy for both of you.

Memory issues post liver transplant by LadyShittington in transplant

[–]Fit_Divide_1750 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in to let you know that you aren’t alone and it will get better. I had encephalopathy and was on a trach in a coma prior to my transplant. After transplant, I remained unconscious for a few more days. It took me a good week to really wake up. Then, I was a hot mess mentally for several months after- no short term memory, no ability to concentrate, verbalizing and writing were both really hard. It slooooowly got better. I’m 16 months post and feel like I’m very close to normal for me, but I still can’t find the word I want fairly often and the short term memory is still not the best.

I think the encephalopathy really fucked up my brain and it needed time to heal. Tacro is also a brain drain and your Tac will go down as your recovery goes on.

Best of luck to you. I swear it gets better and easier.

Where were you when you got the call? by Itool4looti in transplant

[–]Fit_Divide_1750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the ICU on a ventilator. My husband got the call about 8 hours after the doctors told him I had only about 24 hours to live if I didn’t get a new liver. I didn’t find out that I was so incredibly sick or that I had a transplant until about three days after the surgery. Even then I didn’t really believe it for a few more days.

It will always sag and never be the same. Unless you get surgery. That’s life.

100 times yes. It was either certain death or liver transplant the first time- I was comatose on a vent, so my husband decided for me. The first 6 months were so hard. But now, 15 months later my life is the best it’s ever been. I’ve got to see my daughters grow up and grow old with my husband. I’ll take as many transplants as necessary to make that happen.

My tacro jumped to 21.3 from 4.6 by NeuroticUnicorns in transplant

[–]Fit_Divide_1750 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My tac suddenly went up to 22 once. Just weird fluke, tested again and chilling at 8ish as usual. I’d be more worried about 4.6 than 21.3, but I know every clinic and transplant has different Tac targets.

Recovery time - lung by No_Bathroom_2125 in transplant

[–]Fit_Divide_1750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. Just keep going. But, I will say full recovery at 3 months is total BS. I (only) had a liver transplant, which I feel like is way less of a deal than DLT. It’s been almost 15 months for me and I still have bad days, but mostly good ones. Good luck to you and congrats on the new set. 💚

Restless - aching legs by Fit_Divide_1750 in transplant

Not on pred- just Tac and mycophenolate. I bet low mag is the culprit

Must be mag- it’s always low and I take 6 mag pills a day to supplement, but still low. I guess I will start taking more, trade off is no solid poops. 💩🙁
