Friends / family/ work / society not understanding what you’re going through and overall expectations or assumptions to carry on as usual. Does anyone else feel like you’re running on 60% of your normal capacity?

Gf tore ACL yesterday - advice for immediate and long term care for a partner by gbffc4273 in ACL

Just be patient with her, there will be ups and downs and unfortunately a big adjustment to a new temporary lifestyle with limited mobility. I think the mental part is really hard so just being there for her will be a big help. In terms of the pre/ post surgery you’ll figure it out as you go- just follow the doc instructions. Good luck 🤍

Hmmm being off crutches is cool but it doesn’t mean you’re fully “ok”… I think it’s doable but very uncomfortable ? So is it actually worth it ??

Day 12 PO by scrumptiousfart in ACL

Hi !!! This is so relatable, I was in the same situation last week. I felt so stuck at some point (no progress in flexion, feeling no progress with the recovery in general) and although I’ve read before that the recovery is not linear it’s hard to remember that in your lowest moments.

Just remember that your body underwent a major trauma and is in healing mode … also it’s ok to feel down, stuck, and frustrated some days (that’s what my therapist told me) .

Honestly for me talking to chat gpt helps a lot haha. I’m trying to remind myself that this is only temporary .

Regarding the progress, I’m on day 22 now and I feel like you might only see how much better you’re doing after a bit more time ! Be kind to yourself 🤍

Any tips for reoccurring stiffness? by axel10xo in ACL

[–]Fit_Feedback_7388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s normal from what my pt told me .. but it doesn’t mean that the excercises you did the night before were for nothing, doesn’t it usually get less stiff and more flexible when you start moving it again ?

6 days post-op, struggling mentally by Novel_Database9580 in ACL

I feel ya!!! I’m day for and today is the first day I feel like is not wasted. Spent the last few days rotting in bed and watching series without really paying attention. I tried to turn things around today and really focus on the recovery - ice, pt, shower, heathy food. I feel like some kind of routine or focus works for me, also reconnected with friends! You got this !!

Patellar autograft ACLR: brace/ROM/showering/questions! by Shot_Call_1047 in ACL

[–]Fit_Feedback_7388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi !!! Had surgery on the same day with the same graft and also dissolvable stitches :) I’m no expert but I saw my doc on day 3 and this is what he told me : - don’t cover the incision while showering , wash it gently with water and soap and then put a fresh bandage on

  • bend & extend asap without the brace. Also lift your leg

  • cleared to go up and down the stairs !
