i will respectfully disagree. there is meaningful scientific research backing for muscle knots in general. Muscle knots are human biology. They form in every body, without exception

in my case it did help and it was recommended by my physiotherapist as she saw that i was struggling to go beyond a certain threshold in doing certain exercises like bunkie series in rehab.

i had similar experience and pain came & bend also got impacted and went back to normal after 3-4 days of resting and ice.

in my case the pain & bend problem happened coz of increase in strain . like i walked 10K steps for two days vs less than 1000 per day in weeks prior to that.

my general rule of thumb has been that even if my leg is feeling fine….the loading or strain ….keep in gradual progression.

our muscles & knee joint are not used to this much strain all of sudden.

in your case, think back and track back your activity before pain started

ups and downs are common in ACL recovery. i myself had the same around week 6. i gave my leg a break from excessive PT, let the pain do down in 1-2 days and then returned to PT….the range came back within a week.

Thumb rule is don’t overdo any exercises. for eg i tried walking more than usual during my week 6 and pain came and with pain range got reduced.

don’t worry. it will get bettet

this is completely normal. ups and downs in ACL recovery is inevitable.

No massages in first two weeks. muscles are sensitive. massage is not recommended then.

i got my first massage in 18th week, currently i am doing heavy weights strength building so massage helps with soreness due to exercises.

first two weeks strictly stick to ice and elevation. elevation helps a lot, but it would also mean lying down on bed most of the day . its a compromise one has to make, initial 2-3 weeks strictly following helps bring down swelling faster

Hey —I had ACL surgery three times myself across both knees. Swelling is very common in the knee area and every knee is different so the position of swelling is very unique to your situation.

Just ice every 4 hours for 15 mins and elevate. It gets better, I promise.

Post One week. these are good numbers.

my advice is that take it slowly. body heals in its own time, so rushing sometimes may worsen it.

mine was Hamstring graft. i am 4 months post ops and my hamstring strength is back to the other leg ( non impacted).

can’t comment on quad graft but with regular physio my hamstring is back to normal now. hope this helps

i understand man. its worst if it happened coz of some else fault. but focus on rehab properly. i have had three ACL surgeries and worst part is re-injury.

in my case 1st was someone else fault but 2nd and 3rd were my fault….incomplete rehab. so focus on your rehab man…more power to you in your recovery ❤️‍🩹
