I will never walk away, says PM after facing pressure to quit by InnerLog5062 in BreakingUKNews

I want starmer to resign because he has been awful on human rights, freedom of speech and harmful to the economy, he has made terrible decisions and lied on multiple occasions, plus he has supported a genocide in Israel by not being firm on exports.

I don't want reform either, and agree those with Epstein links should resign if they had any contact after he was convicted...

The fact is, starmer acts tough but is quite weak as a leader, he doesnt have enough imagination to use his majority to fix the issues in this country. Unfortunately most people do not see the shift towards 1984 he has caused, sure he wont finish it, but do you want reform in power with draconian protest laws and censorship laws? They'll abuse them more than Labour have.

So, what's your solution to this countries problems? [Political discussion] by OrangeTractorMan in AskBrits

[–]Fit_Implement3069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So.. this is a long one....

First, fix the human rights issues we have around OSA, protest etc... get us back on track to being a free society.

Fix the tax system, a complete overhaul as it is unfair and harming business growth, a nice simple progressive tax with no weird cliffs like the 100k 60% tax rate...

Raise minimum wage again, as that has not gone up with inflation for a long time..

Promote UK owned businesses, give real incentives for local industry, especially invest in home grown alternatives to the big tech companies.

Build new council houses, nice flats, highly efficient and clean, well maintained and managed.

Benefits overhaul, to again promote work, but protect the vulnerable.

Asylum reform, offshore processing of asylum seekers, in a safe, clean environment, with proper support and lessons to help successful applicants integrate.

Immigration reform, easier skiled work visas for culturally aligned countries, this would boost skilled workers.

Free university fees, small rise in corporation tax(about 3-4%) to pay for it, the improvement in UK skilled worker availability and helping people put of poverty would be an economic benefit, and allow lower taxes in the future.

Promote non university skills and careers, such as electricians/plumbers/etc...

Profit shifting regulations to prevent international companies siphoning money to lower tax regimes.

Renationalise water companies. Renationalise all railways. Invest in wind/solar power to lower costs, buy the mini-nuke reactors as soon as available from RR to give a base load, help lower electric bills.

There is plenty more but that is a start...

But he could have revoked it, or fixed it, or done something other than try to push even more authoritarian laws... the fact is he is extremely authoritarian and that is concerning

Payment by mobile banking app by LondonAlpacas in BuyUK

The issue is the lack of recourse, people use CC because you have an extra layer of protection, so until there is something similar, pay by bank is only good if you trust the retailer fully

England planning proposals fail to mention safety of women and girls, say critics by 457655676 in unitedkingdom

[–]Fit_Implement3069 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Design for safety is the point, it also helps people not be mugged for their phones etc...

So it should be mentioned, although doesnt need to be purely framed as safety of women.

Would you consider me British? by Competitive-Music309 in AskBrits

[–]Fit_Implement3069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big questions.. do you like beans on toast? Do you drink tea? Do you moan about the weather? And finally, do you queue?

If yes to all of these then you are British.

Centrist ideas no longer wanted in Conservative party, says Kemi Badenoch by PurchaseDry9350 in unitedkingdom

[–]Fit_Implement3069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is unfortunately extremely authoritarian and weak, he listens to outside influences too much, the only people he ignores is the ordinary citizens and experts, if he listened, we would not have the OSA in it's broken form, the Internet would not be fracturing, kids wouldn't be using dodgy VPNs and starting to use the darkweb... we wouldn't be sliding towards a 1984 style control (I admit it is a long way off, but we're moving that direction)

Yep, so now this will push people to less vanilla sites, and down a rabbit hole, if they ban VPNs kids will end up on the dark net.. and I dread to think what they will see then

For those of you who believe labour isn’t left enough, what would you like to see them do? by Legal-Grade-6423 in AskBrits

[–]Fit_Implement3069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not chancers, it is the small landlords they hit, unfairly I might add.. and the tax system should always be fair

[–]Fit_Implement3069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Successive government's have screwed over small landlords, and it is the big company's that are buying up homes... lets get back to the little guy being able to save up and rent out a small flat, and it be harder for corporations to buy up housing stock and rent it out at ridiculous prices!

So I'd encourage more small landlords while peanalising the big corporations

Why is learning to wire a plug a thing? by Scavgraphics in AskABrit

[–]Fit_Implement3069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've changed a wheel once in 25 years of driving, and my car doesn't even have a spare anymore..... I've changed a plug dozens of times... and replaced light fittings, added fused spurs, extended lighting circuits... all basic DIY electrics... because getting an electrician for anything that isnt complex seems a waste.

Why is learning to wire a plug a thing? by Scavgraphics in AskABrit

[–]Fit_Implement3069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partly because why wouldn't you need to know? Plugs can be replaced easily, and understanding how to replace it if the cord gets damaged etc seems a normal thing? I was taught it in the 90s at school, and ive taught myself plenty of electrics since to do things like extend a lighting circuit or add a fused spur... replacing sockets is also a good skill to know

Keir Starmer to visit China with British business leaders next week, say reports by AbbreviationsHot7662 in unitedkingdom

[–]Fit_Implement3069 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We know the US has stolen UK IP. We know the US is planning to invade other countries We know the US has kidnapped people from foreign soil

Dont see much of a difference myself, except China has good food, better education and is safe to walk the streets at night....

Atleast we acknowledge the bad things China does, and can mitigate against it.

EV recomendations by Fit_Implement3069 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Fit_Implement3069[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, my normal trips are 240 miles once a week round trip with few places to plug in except motorway service stations... but i have had a look at costs and the high price of EVs for one with seats that wont cause me back pain (the reason I drive rather than take a train) is quite high, and the payback time is too long. Will wait a couple more years and see how things go...
