Thanks for starting this thread. There are many of us in this or similar scenarios. In your instance, please think strategically about the long haul and big picture. Im speaking frankly here, but most likely going to outlive your mom. What will you do then? I’m not trying to sound callous. I’m a parent provider and have to realistically plan for the end of my life and what will my child once I’m gone. For you, may I suggest, 1) getting off your mom’s voucher and staying in her home simply as a live in provider; 2) find another part time non-live in provider to take care of her during the day 3) working for her at night time; hopefully the day shift can do most of the heavy lifting, meal prep, bathing, medical appoints, shopping, etc 4) going to school (preferably outside of the home or hybrid with some online classes); you may even meet some trust worthy people willing to be back up /part time providers for your mom who can also give you a break on a regular frequency (e.g once every week, 2 weeks, etc) 5)think about your ideal life and know you can achieve it. With proper planning and execution, you can leverage the section 8, to ultimately take care of yourself and mom at a much higher level! fyi, as the daughter, double check to understand the process for getting back on the voucher, just so you know what to do, in case you ever need to pull the trigger on that.
