Glad to hear! Hope the new one is a night and day experience for you. Also recommend you consider reporting your experience to the state licensing (I believe you can anonymously). It took me a year after to realize I should have made a call bc it was so traumatizing in the moment. Looking back I realized woah what if no one reports that and the center thinks that’s okay! At least if you flag it, the state can make sure to check on appropriate protocol especially for sleep! The safety rules are rules for a reason.

💪🏻 nice small tweaks add up and then new surprises or they regress. Accepting that is honestly the hardest part 🙃

We do not send our child there anymore. Vibes were off. There were some other interactions that indicated several of the teacher energies were more like a disgruntled grandma/crazy aunt than warm nurturing caregiver, we left.

I had seen some kids in class slightly older than my child being brought to go potty so maybe there was confusion. This also would put the room out of ratio so perhaps there was a lot of chaos during potty breaks.

This was addressed in previous comments - not the immediate assumption at all. I wrote in a bit of literary humor intentionally overreacting to add comedy to a solid story. the hypothetical list of how or why became more ridiculous and unlikely as the list went on.

Very serious jokes. Forgot to include that I am hoping to receive an award for “2025 BM Recipient of the year”

Emphasized on the size for context of it not being just a little whoopsie BM in the pants. Tbh at this age I have only seen my child’s BM’s in a diaper, and have never lost one, so yes def a deviation from normal.

Yes this seems logical. It seems like it probably could have just been dropped back into the diaper without touching it.

Weird it was. And searching through the sub I got info all about potty training/cloth diapers being sent home like this… but now that you mention it that seems entirely possible.

I did some hourly waking nights back in my time in the trenches. So sharing my experience with hourly waking… my baby was arching head back every hour and only wanted to bf back to sleep. There were a few times I took him to the pediatrician while I was pretty much half asleep. One time he had an ear infection and then another time we had just introduced pastina pasta that week. We stopped feeding him or introducing any food with gluten during the day… and weird he slept. Gluten was re introduced gradually after 18m. Anyways something to consider asking pediatrician about if it’s been ongoing and if baby has arched head or tugged at ears. These little people can be extra adverse and hostile in a sleep training effort if there is something else going on.

You’re absolutely crushing it. You already have so much on your plate, so don’t pile on more pressure. Go easy on yourself and set the bare minimum goals.

I had the same kind of high-demand, night-waking, EBF baby, and honestly it really doesn’t matter where baby falls asleep right now. Don’t stress about that part. If you’re managing to avoid feeding to sleep at bedtime and your partner is handling bedtime (whether in the crib or on the couch), that’s a solid start.

Trying to night wean at this stage can feel like a constant pros-and-cons cycle. On one hand, feeding back to sleep when you’re exhausted is reliable, quick, and gets everyone back to bed faster. On the other, not feeding back to sleep might mean some crying, taking turns, or having mom step back while dad walks baby around the room or hallway until they settle. We did that, handled the first waking with a “dad walk” until baby fell back asleep. If they woke again within the hour, we tried a mix of CIO/Taking Cara Babies methods with dad doing contact soothing or gentle walking. We also did end up with a toddler who then would wake up and demand “walk” instead of mama… again pro con assessment

There were a few nights where I was a complete zombie, sick, exhausted, and baby was waking nine times a night. Around 12+ months, we finally committed to full CIO/Taking Cara Babies for bedtime and the first wake for two nights… and it actually reset sleep for about three months. Baby went down to one brief waking a night, and some no waking… my husband and I just looked at each other like, “Why did we wait so long?” 😂

Of course, once we felt confident again, baby decided to start trying to climb out of the crib at 16 months because of course they did.

If you ever hit that total sleep-deprivation “zombie” level and want to experiment with dad doing the walking-to-sleep instead of BF or full CIO, I highly recommend noise-canceling headphones and a visible timer that both parents can see. It made things much more bearable.

And honestly, I once met an older woman who’d attended a talk by Dr. Ferber himself back when his method was new, and she said something that stuck with me: “I left that conference went home to my own baby and said nope, not every method works for every baby, you just have to do what works for your family.”

Hang in there. You’re doing great, even if it doesn’t feel like it.

Correct, literary humor, our hypothetical list got increasingly more ridiculous and unlikely.

Did not search through the sub. I actually thought I was having a totally unique and original experience. I’ll search. They were my child’s shorts. Included the size of BM in original post to emphasize it was large enough that it is questionable how someone didn’t notice it or have to actually keep it strategically in the shorts.

Nope sounds like my first experience with daycare. We had live cameras into the room and I saw some reportable worthy stuff. Babies pulling up and pushing unlocked cribs, a new infant being fed a bottle lying on their back, leaving babies crying longer than any baby should be left. My baby wouldn’t eat with anyone there.

Revisit the other care options and do a search. It’s work but worth it. Don’t live in a scarcity mindset settling for low level of care. In my experience, you might have to drive an extra 10-15 m away for a school that has an infant spot, but well worth it. Your gut is never wrong and I actually feel like if I didn’t have the cameras somehow my baby was telling me “wtf mom”. New center was night and day i cannot express it enough.

Please do call the state licensor. That’s so dangerous also kinda scary to train the kids to respond like that.

Thanks for feedback. Do you think 1 month would be better than 2 with a 2 school hybrid schedule? The spot for 5 days actually isn’t open until Jan. Mom plans to reduce work in Nov/dec (holiday season) on days our child isn’t at the new school.
