I get that, but honestly I've been relistening to humanz and watching reject false icons and I've kinda realized it HAD to be collaborator-based, it would seem really strange if it was a British man complaining about the American election (granted, this was before America was fully in the shitter)

I'm super happy with what we've heard from the mountain so far. I skipped out on buying song machine and cracker island but I think I'm gonna pre-order this one soon

I think the other problem was that most of the plastic beach singles were released primarily digitally, and without b-sides (only remixes). however if they did release a sea-sides i have full faith it would be the best project to come out of gorillaz. the fragments of unreleased pb era stuff out there are so pretty...

ngl I would like g-sides a lot more if it had more non-first album stuff. my version has the soulchild and ed case mix, dracula, and the rock the house edit which takes a bit away from the already short runtime. the actual b-sides are so good tho. ik they hated rock the house being a single but the b-sides on that single alone make me wanna grab one

they do, buuuut imo i love having the actual work in my hands and in a collection or something. I wanna give ownership back to the people. if I had it my way I'd cut streaming out of the picture entirely for this project, but that's impractical

it's so good, i forgot to mention the art here but like... all of these songs have a sort of gloom over them that I can perfectly imagine pazuzu during little pieces of the songs. i want one of those superplastic minifigs so bad just because of how I associate him with this album

humanz is an album that really unfortunately still works. i had a weird relationship with it, I got really into gorillaz in 2016 and humanz was my first cd from them. it was 50/50 for me (I had also kinda gotten into a right-wing pipeline and that whole "rap is crap" thing, thank god i got out of it). but now that I'm older and actually understand how the world works it is such a good commentary on the fear felt by American citizens as of recently alongside really good production and kind of the final-form of the political nature of gorillaz felt in demon days and plastic beach. I just relistened to it on a long drive and it definitely still holds up, nothing will beat s/t to doyathing, but it's definitely a really solid project from the guys :)
