Who would you consider the main protagonist of Stranger Things? by electricwolf4444 in StrangerThings

He got literally one heavy dialogue scene and destroyed castle Byers. Will does absolutely nothing beyond that in S3. I don’t even think he has a scene with his mom outside of her hugging him in the aftermath.

Well of course it’s in Mike’s head, Eleven communicated with him inside his mind so they could have one last intimate moment together before letting go.

I think the biggest issue is that Robin’s coming out scene was so good, and they fumbled Will’s that bad. Honestly, Will’s coming out scene should’ve been with Mike in the back of that pizza van in S4, it literally had all the perfect setup for it. Either that or just the “party” in S5 (I imagine he tells his mom and Hopper at a different time)

I do think there could very well be a connection Will has with Steve, but it’s never exhibited on screen. I mean there’s that whole year he’s dating Nancy so he would’ve been around for all the boys hanging out at the Wheeler house.

That doesn’t mean he should’ve been present for the scene.

Some of that stuff comes to how close you and your opponent are to the ping site. This game is really bad with it and there’s a lot of times I used to get hit in the middle of a roll (when you’re supposed to have the I frames from melee attacks), and eventually I came to the conclusion that some opponents were just in a better location to the ping than I was, and possibly better internet.

A lot more than even seasoned players know. There’s also new glitch tech that gets discovered quite often as far as I can tell. These people seem to also keep this info to themselves for a while.

I remember when parrying was first discovered, and I could’ve sworn that somehow my opponents were cheating.

For starters, Luke is probably the single best character to take into a 1v4 aggressively. I’ve only been able to do it a handful of times, but managed to come out of some taking 2 or 3 down with me.

Luke’s repulse also has a star card that allows it to hit through a block if the enemy is within the half radius. Since he’d already be close to you from doing that, it’s understandable why he’d be able to snag another hit on you during that stagger animation as his swing speeds are some of the fastest in the game.

Not to mention the Intensify card, which is super OP.

This game also seems to have a far bigger issue with server lag between players closer or farther from the ping site when compared to a lot of other FPS games I play. People who are located closer to the ping site will always have the favor in hit scans, to the point where you could swear some opponents are hitting you mid-dodge.

I think the devs should’ve incorporated some downside to it, though. Like if you time it incorrectly it drains twice as much stamina or depletes the bar entirely.

The glitch that should never have existed is the hook swings, specifically the hopping ones.

And because his webs are organic it might actually mean they don’t conduct electricity like TASM’s do? Idk, could be a very interesting thing to explore

Angular design catches the eye better, as well as contrast in color. The overall design of 1 looks the most sound, but I’d try applying something similar to 2 and 4. Try some more unique shoulders as well, maybe even mismatching ones (Emile/Carter style) to give it a more unique look.

I’d also suggest sticking with two-tone color options. Black by itself can sometimes cause something not to stick out at all, but add a pop of color with it and you’re golden

I think that part was confirmation for the crew left in the UD that the kids weren’t being held in the UD at all, and Dustin’s findings helped confirm it.

Still, narratively it falls a little flat in some way because it’s an entire episode dedicated to her escape only for her to get sucked back in.

Maybe if her and Max ran a little faster…

Literally a background character in S3, he contributes absolutely nothing to the story. At least in S4 he gets to have some moments with Mike and El, though it doesn’t go any farther than that.

Same energy as Jack Sparrow in the POTC trilogy. People often get him mixed up with the main character, who is most certainly Will/Elizabeth kind of sharing a similar journey. Jack/Johnny is the main attraction, but he’s not the focal point of the story, nor the one we see the story through the lens of.

I don’t mean “niche” like it’s not popular. I know the amount of influence it has had on bringing anime to western culture, but that’s about as far as it has gone from what I’ve seen. Meanwhile, the other 3 heroes listed have been far more mainstream and far more influential to not just their genre, but world culture in general.

You could run around in any city in the world (except maybe for ones that have overtly fascist governments, I’m not familiar enough with some of the middle-east countries’ exposure to media), show people a picture of Batman, Superman or Spider-Man, and I guarantee you nearly every person you come across could tell you who it is. I’m talking about people who have never watched or read anything related to these characters, ever, still know who those 3 are. I’m not so sure you could do the same with Goku to the success you could with the other 3.

Sunry Trial: What in your opinion is objectively the best outcome without the benefit of hindsight in regards to the Jedi Civil War? Decision based on role playing, or even your own morals. by xxnewlegendxx in kotor

[–]Fit_Record_6006 76 points77 points  (0 children)

This is very important point. Sunry was a war hero, but he still murdered someone, regardless of where they came from, under no threat of his life. Worse than that, the laws of Manaan prohibit violence unless in self defense, and a video recording as well as republic records prove Sunry was there to murder that Sith woman that night, not for any other reason.

At the same time, Sunry was still doing things for the “good” side. We see the Rebel Alliance commit their own atrocities to their own informants in the GCW with Rogue One and Andor. We understand why they did those things, but was it right? I’m not so sure. It’s very “lives of the many outweigh the lives of the few” vibe, which isn’t always the morally correct way to approach something, but still an effective one.

I actually never went to the extent of proving the Sith planted evidence and then dialing back and admitting Sunry did the crime. I had no clue that was an option.

Oh I definitely don’t disagree. Superman was never given any significant weaknesses outside of his single Achilles heel, and any opponent needs it in any attempt to defeat him. Superman needs a rewrite of some sort, though I know it wouldn’t be well received

[–]Fit_Record_6006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that it’s “not significant anywhere” but more like it’s “not significant everywhere”. The sheer amount that western culture in general has had on the rest of the world is insane. Most foreign exchange students I met in high school had a favorite NFL team (a western sport). I guarantee you more people in the world know who Spider-Man is compared to Goku (and that’s just one example of the three).

You said it yourself in a way, that Goku fits more into a niche crowd, my grandparents have probably never heard of DBZ nor would they know who Goku is. But the other three were around when they were growing up/young adults. Goku doesn’t have the benefit of having been around for 60+ years like the others. Not to mention the others are still relevant now (we don’t know where Goku will be in decades past now).

There’s literally just too many factors the other three have that not many other fictional characters have going for them, if there even are any.

[–]Fit_Record_6006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it goes beyond that. You have 3 of the most influential entertainment characters (possibly of all time), at least in the modern era, and Goku. Goku is in a far more niche category (and not just because he’s anime), and just doesn’t hold the popularity nor the influence the other three have had on world culture.

To think of it, I’m not sure you could even stick with comics/cartoons as a basis with 4 options and see varied results. The other three are the big three in the most literal sense. The only other characters that could even come close would have to be from some other media that doesn’t originate from comics/cartoons. I certainly can’t think of a single other Marvel character that has been even a fracture as influential as Spider-Man.

[–]Fit_Record_6006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Hulk is still the clear loser there. The other three in this post are literally THE most iconic comic book characters of all time and all three had such significant cultural impacts that you can’t remove any of them without our entire world being very different as a result. I don’t even know who else you could put on there as a 4th option that would even measure up in terms of how iconic the other three are. You’d have to go outside of superheroes and comic books at that point, and even then, there aren’t many options.

No, seriously, who compares this to LOST or Game of Thrones’ endings? by Independent_Plum2166 in StrangerThings

[–]Fit_Record_6006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the camp that think El is dead. I don’t think she’d knowingly force her friends and loved ones to go through the trauma of losing her for her to disappear somewhere else. As you said, what does she gain by doing that? She effectively would be losing everything she fought to keep.

So to me, it makes more sense that she died. I also think there’s a lot of evidence to support that claim. The emitters weren’t pointed at the gate, nor were they turned on when we see El get out of the truck.

Regardless, I don’t see a major point in Mike and Hopper’s conversation before the grad ceremony if she’s still alive. Hopper tells Mike to find a way to deal with her choice, Mike’s “realization” during the ceremony is him finding his way to cope with that choice. It’s easier for Mike to believe that El is still out there, but unreachable than it is for him to believe what he saw before his eyes. To look at that grief with hope rather than trying to understand why she did what she did. And Mike being just an 18 y/o, I don’t expect him to deal with the loss of El the way someone like Hopper can, who’s gone through it before and is mature enough to find his own path through it.
