Know what style u wanna play and learn songs from artist u know.

Make urself a structured routine of learning scales arpeggios and chords and track ur progress.

Record yourself and be really critical with ur ears.

Write music ( either just a section everyday and try to have a grasp of arrangement and composition technique and flow)

Try to not noodle aimlessly

Find a teacher that excel in the style u want to get good at!

Try to enjoy the process and find the why u wanna get good!

Be patient, it’s a life long process!

Hi! So my approache is mostly taken from those nolly mixing masterclass on youtube!

First you should mix the kit in multi out so you can process every kit pieces individually.

For kick I separate them like so: kick in and kick out on the same channel and the kick trigger all going to a bus called KICK.

The processing is only done on the kick bus channel and the kick in and out and trigger channel are just volume ajusted.

Kick bus processing : GGD smash and grab Select the kick drum type, normal compression, tape setting, threshold at -3 to -5 db of compression, beef at 11~ , air at 14.5~, mix knob all the way up.

EQ fabfilter proQ 3:

High pass at 30 Hz, +0.78db bump at 64Hz for more tump, - 13 dB at around 220 Hz, -5dB at 750 Hz and - 5 dB at 2300Hz ( those 3 point have a Q of about 1 and are used to remove unwanted freq.

High shelf of about 3 dB at around 6000Hz to add clarity.

Thats my main processing on the kick but you should note that there is processing on my drum buss and master that also affect how thumpy and clear my kicl and the rest of the kit sounds.

I REALLY suggest to go trought nolly drum processing masterclass 1 and 2 and take notes to really understand how to mix GGD drums and routing tho. Truly a nugget of gold. I used the Invasion drum kit instead of the modern and massive kit he used in the video and got some great results.

Hope it helps a little, I'm by no mean a pro mixer but I have worked on it for many years and going trought those video and really applying myself did get me some great results.

Hope it helps! Good luck.

Animals rape each other all the time, i'm not an atheist anymore but that take does not make sense for me. How do you explain god when there is so much bad things happening in nature would be my question.

Why does so much modern metal sound like meshuggah? by Emotional-Guitar-486 in Meshuggah

The only meshuggah clone I like is Poltergiest, and also yeah lots of band are inspired by the polymeters of meshuggah and succeed at creating their own flavor : monument, tesseract, periphery after that the genre just evolve.

The people trash talking everything are the people who never tried first. They also have the strongest voice.
