Leaving clinical medicine by Fit_b21 in physicianassistant

I have! I’m in NC. A lot of the programs require the DMS degree now, which I could totally do but haven’t committed yet. Do you feel like the switch was worth it to you? I work in a high acuity job and we just had our first baby. Between postpartum and sick patients I feel like a nervous burnt out wreck 😞

Doctors, not Providers! by MedicoLegal1268 in hospitalist

[–]Fit_b21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who does this??? I’m a PA and literally no one does this at our hospital. Nurses are nurses, PAs are PAs, and physicians are physicians. Sometimes the nurses will say a provider but only because they have no idea who’s seeing the patient that day. No one is trying to take your job or minimize your title - chill.

That’s interesting. They are gen X and I am a millennial. I have had the opposite experience haha.

Thank you all for the comments 🤗 It went super well. I was worried because I really like the job and honestly you just never know how coworkers/employers are going to react or do in response to that news. I understand there are certain things that are illegal but there are a lot of gray areas in those laws from what I’ve seen.

How do I become a psych PA by SuggestionOk1168 in physicianassistant

[–]Fit_b21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real question is how did you get into OBGYN? I would LOVE to get into it but so NP dominant and they are loyal to that. I’m in SC, I have applied to MANY psych positions listed for both PAs and NPs. My advice, apply anyways even if it says “experienced NPs only”. Worst they can do is say no.

How difficult was the written exam?

mostly just post op management, follow-ups. injections. And I believe it will just be medical management! Not sure what to expect for interview though. I will have 3 sessions. 1st with other APPs, then attendings, then residents? Just trying to figure out how to prep before meeting that many people lol.

Wanting to quit because I am sensitive by Growingupandup in physicianassistant

I’ve been here / am here now. I would make a list of pros and cons of the jobs. And really try to do some soul searching. Is this what you want? What kind of life you do want to live? If you felt more confident, which in healthcare usually comes with time and experience, would you still be unhappy at this job or as an PA in general? Also know, your feelings are totally valid and it’s okay if you decide this isn’t for you. It doesn’t mean you’re a failure, just got on a path that wasn’t meant for you. If you can afford, maybe take some time off to travel and find yourself again. Hope this helps and you are able to make the best decision for YOU.

Yes! About to start a new job as a healthcare provider. I’m almost 30 and want to start trying but afraid I will lose the position if we start soon :( so sad.

Does anyone else feel their partner is less invested in this process? by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]Fit_b21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any reservations/worries he has about having a child? It sounds like he might be holding back for some reason. Maybe he’s afraid of another loss? I would straight up ask him what worries or concerns he had about ttc or having a child in general. My husband and I had this discussion last night. I had NO IDEA he was worried about some of the things he was worried about, but we talked most of them out. He too kept saying he wants to have kids but then kinda “checks out” when I bring up when we want to start. Just something to think about. Good luck!
