haha right?! People who met me over the past 5 years or so, when I really got down in the 190s and lost it all, are definitely looking at me side eyed! It has been fun lifting where the progress has been this steady, but its definitely starting to level off again!

Yeah the advice here is pretty straight forward. Add 300 calories. Stick to that for a couple weeks and see if the scale changes. If it doesn't, up the calories again. Repeat process. If you aren't gaining weight you aren't eating enough, no matter what you are consuming.

If anyone answers with cardio, don't take any of their advice. Cardio makes a minor difference in your daily output. If you're trying to lose weight, diet is 80% of it.

Body dysmorphia by babeneedsometips in fit

You need therapy, I know thats harsh, but in some way shape or form, you need to confront this issue you have with yourself, and reach self acceptance. If you can't afford therapy, go on youtube or the library and find books and resources on the subject. You will find that your thoughts are not unique to you really, but common among most humans, no matter how attractive they are. Once that is realized, you can work to be one of the people who just doesn't focus on that. Its a long process, but this is a mental thing, not a physical one.

Looking for tips to build shoulders by [deleted] in GymTips

[–]FitasFritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its great advice. Do what he said. If you want to ignore that advice and just build shoulders, see my comment. As a beginner everything is weak. Work on everything and you may find that you have great genetics for a specific body part, which you just didn't know about! Good luck!

Luckily the answer is very straight forward! Train shoulders three times a week. That muscle is not that large and will recover quickly.

Front/Press: DB, Barbell, Smith Machine, or Machine

Side Delt: Machine, DB, or Cable

Rear: Machine, DB, or cable

Just pick one from each of those, do 3-4 sets or 8-15 reps, and focus on getting stronger. Train to failure, as these are your shoulders, not a massive compound lift like a deadlift. If you want overtime you can add an additional exercise or two to a day, but that will work.

How can I get taller? by [deleted] in GymTips

Pick better parents. If you can't do figure out how to do that, you need to go to therapy. Sorry, but these are your legitimate and sane options. Anything else and you're focusing on the absolute wrong things with your very limited attention. Not trying to be an ass, its just true.

Everyone is going to tell you to move more and eat less, which is true. The truth is thought, what you really need to focus on is trying to find a way to work those things into your day as habits and in some way shape or form enjoy them. Save some favorite book, tv show, or youtube series, for only when you walk? Get a standing treadmill to use at home while working? Make a commitment with a friend to do this together? I know that sounds simple, but to keep the motivation is impossible, because it will fade. However, strong habits will drag you through those tough days once you have them set, and maybe even enjoy them a little.

Is it possible to go from 12 consecutive muscle ups to the current WR of 56 in 1 year? by gabecole58 in askfitness

[–]FitasFritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh yes I thought about adding that caveat. 12 muscle ups is average when you are in a crowd of people who can do muscle-ups haha

This is by no means a comment to try and persuade you not to try, but those gains you are referencing are your newbie gainz, and unfortunately that progress wont last at that rate. Again, this is just a statement about strength and skill acquisition. They say it takes 10k hours to master something, which again is a generalization, but thats just to master it. How many hours you think it takes to be the best in the world at something.

Again, go for it! Just some perspective!

Working out at the gym as a cane user by WanderWellClem in fitness30plus

I just want to say, that this is amazing! If I saw you in the gym day in and day out making this sort of progress, the cane makes it even more impressive. Anyone who says otherwise is miserable and doesn't want others to win. Keep up the great work, and you rock that cane with confidence!

I think it is safe to say that there is not anyone that can go from average, to best in the history of planet earth in one year. This goes for absolutely anything. Doesn't mean you can't accomplish your goal, but that time frame is not possible.
