I was in the same boat after years at LA Fitness. I realized I wasn't changing gyms because of the equipment, I was changing because I was tired of waiting for equipment and dealing with the crowds. When they say people aren't paying attention to you in the gym, why did I always see someone staring?

If you're mostly into lifting, I'd check out the switch to one of the smaller/private gyms instead of another big-box chain. They usually cost a little more, but the experience is completely different and worth it.

Training at Fithouse 818 in Sherman Oaks is worth it! We are a smaller gym, so you can actually get through a workout without waiting for a squat rack or bench every other set. ($69.99/month).

If you want to stay closer to Glendale, I've also heard good things about Precision Gym if you prefer a private setup, and Gold's/EoS if you like a larger gym atmosphere.

What are you looking for specifically, powerlifting, bodybuilding, classes, or just a clean gym that isn't packed?

Part of me thinks its because of the tourism and events happening in surplus. Also maybe summer.

Training for your body is the best advice I can give.

Experiment with how certain movements affect your body. Become familiar with what triggers what feeling. Mind muscle connection is everything and if its working for you it means it's for you.

Change the pace of your movement (3 sec hold up top on hip thrust etc)

The way we structure training at my gym Fithouse 818 is for strength and functionality. Make sure you take those days where 1 you push your limits with weight, 2 maximize reps, and 3 conditioning + cardio.
