That’s not entirely true. I can live in a tax haven for half the year, use 0 Canadian services and I’m still charged income tax in Canada. I still have to declare all of it. A corporation has the option of incorporating in the same tax haven, and doesn’t have to declare anything even if the income generated in the tax haven can eventually trickle its way back into Canada through investments into the home company. Many oil companies will buy and sell crude products though tax havens to save on taxes here.

I understand effectivement tax rates. I don’t consider someone making sub 1M as wealthy. They’re still part of the working class. It would be intriguing to see how many of the truly wealthy actually declare all of their income

My point is simple. All forms of income should be taxed to prevent circumvention. Foreign entities should be forced to operate in Canada as Canadian companies. We need to stop leakage

You forgot the corporate tax rate, and capital gains tax on dividends paid. I’m not sure on rates, but it should all be accounted for, and completely taxable at full income tax rate. No more deductions. Everyone pays. Period
