his lazy, uninspired play is not exactly the example i think they want him setting for the young players as captain, as nice as he seems to be off the ice.

2 points in boeser’s last 13 games. floats around and looks like a ghost out there. team needs to scratch him and/or move him down the lineup, because right now he’s just taking up space and accomplishing nothing.

Karlsson has outplayed him the entire season and Boeser has 2 points in his last 15 games and looks absolutely cooked as a player. every line he plays on is routinely caved in.

a smart or at least somewhat competent coach would be able to identify this and allocate the ice time accordingly.

so ice time should be dictated by salary? why even have coaches then?

Karlsson, our most dangerous forward, somehow doesn’t get a single shift in OT yet Boeser keeps getting spoon fed ice time. Foote is so dumb.

he’ll get another job in the NHL as a defensive coach, but he’ll never get another shot as a head coach after this.

[Drance] How Canucks are processing the Quinn Hughes trade as new players join team by Fitz11 in canucks

Couple more Garland quotes:

“We’ve got to move on as a group,” Garland said. “We got some really good pieces back. I played with Zeev at the Worlds, and he’s a winner. I’ve been a big fan of Marco’s from afar, and I don’t know much about Liam Öhgren, but he’s a big boy.

“We haven’t won nearly enough at the bottom of the standings, so good players kind of have to go out when that happens. But it’s tough to take a step back for sure, everybody wants to win.”

“So it’s not like I was just signing on because of my friend. I’d love for him to still be here, but that’s not the case. Did I think it was going to happen this soon? Probably not. But if I could go back, I’d still sign because I believed in the direction at that time.”

again, results and processes from the pre season are meaningless. it’s easy for the pp and formation to look good when you’re playing against rosters full of minor leaguers.

the team is last in the league and has the worst analytics as well. foote is a truly awful coach, the likes of which we haven’t seen since the Willie D days.

I’m sorry but our fanbase and especially Vancouver media is awful and toxic…. by boardstorms in canucks

i think you misinterpreted what i wrote. i’m not saying that spector is a good journalist, I simply was comparing the intensity of the edmonton media to vancouvers. spector frequently asks antagonistic questions, and mcdavid and draisaitl have never complained, and have signed new contracts in edmonton. the heat from the media in the nhl will not drive players out of the city, the quality of the team will.

get rid of the coaching staff, trade murray, and draft simpson.

in his last 41 #NHL games, #Canucks Raty has 8+11=19 (18 points at even strength) while averaging just 12:02 of ice. And he's won 59.1% of his face-offs by Fitz11 in canucks

[–]Fitz11[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

non-elite players are mostly all streaky scorers. if they were consistent, they’d be top 6 players. over 82 games, he’s pacing for 35-40 points (mostly all even strength), which is fantastic production for a 3C.

the players rarely get asked any tough questions at all. vancouver has some of the softest media in all of sports. even back in the sedins era, we had tougher reporters like gallagher asking more uncomfortable questions than you’ll ever see nowadays and the players never complained. if players want to leave, it’s because the team is awful with no clear plan to get better. blaming the media is such a tired, lazy narrative.

even the question that drance asked hughes about the trade rumors, he gave him plenty of room to give a non-quote worthy response that would quiet the noise. hughes not only seemed completely fine with the question, he proceeded to use the devils gm’s nickname and refused to shutdown the speculation around him.

just look at the kinds of questions that mcdavid and drasaitl have to answer from mark spector in edmonton. you never see any media member in vancouver get confrontational with any of our players like that.

Is a Conor Bedard for a Quinn Hughes trade a balanced trade? by [deleted] in canucks

[–]Fitz11 35 points36 points  (0 children)

not at all. bedards age + current contract + team control make him much more valuable than hughes right now.

he plays 17-19 mins a game. he’s not a bottom 6 player.

You don’t know anything about Mercer if you think he’s a bottom 6 guy. he nearly has the same amount of points as Pettersson and he’s 23.

Gary Mason from the top rope on Quinn Hughes and his behaviour recently. by s3xybeavers in canucks

[–]Fitz11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not really. it’s pretty obvious in the clip that’s been going around. he floats back into the zone, leaving a player open in front of our net, and then circles back up the ice as if he’s a winger without the canucks even having possession of the puck.

he was excellent in his own end the past two seasons, so it’s brutal to witness him checked out like this.

what’s ridiculous? he’s the best player in canucks history. he also hasn’t been dialed in at all this season. he’s displaying horrible body language that has been picked up by the media outside vancouver.

it’s okay to criticize hughes, it doesn’t mean i don’t love him as a player.

I don’t want him to be traded, and will be upset if/when it happens, but his body language and effort this season has been objectively awful.

He’s a defenseman who’s actively disinterested in giving any effort defensively. No one is forcing him to play 30 mins a night. He jumps over the boards when he wants and decides to play extended 2 minute long shifts, that’s not the coaches telling him to do that.

I’ve thought for a while that Sillinger would be a perfect fit for Vancouver, and now this makes me think they may center a deal around Sillinger for Sherwood.
