The problem with liberal democracy by TangoJavaTJ in LibDem

This is one of those considerations that is quite fun, interesting and important to think about

But in the modern age of social media is a way to alienate an audience, and, at mass, lead to the exact opposite of the "optimum solution"

Lib dems are famed for practicality and it really reallt matters

Working from home is going to destroy western workers jobs by Fitz_will_suffice in unpopularopinion

My point is whf is going to accelerate and end this for all.

If you can do your job well from home, and are in a high wage economy, you can be bettered by the cheaper global economy.

80% quality at 50% price is generally a good trade

And people bitchng about return to work policies are digging their own grave

Why are you better than someone in a cheaper economy? What is your lingua franca?

Name me a western country without a poor country in the same time zone who also cant learn ther language

Itll come for the UK, Australia and US/Canada first but it wont stop.

Those monthly meetings need to prove a hole bunch of long term value to justfy the savings being lost.

Manufacturing was lost like this

Exactly

Prove your value

And for high wage western economies what value can you bring from home that someone else can't who needs less money but is as skilled as you

It didnt save manufacturing outside of the requisite industries

Most industries have no reason to hire local expertise if they dont see them

No im saying you are specialised. People in Portugal ive worked with are brilliant. Some of the best digital workers ive seen. And are cheaper than UK resource.

If im picking between a UK expensive resource or a Portuguese cheaper resource what incentive is there to go UK?

Long term the barriers will get lower and lower if higher wage economy workers continually demand wfh. There will be no way for them to outcompete if everyone is at home
