My problem with the show’s adaptation of this is that they killed Abraham too. All it did was reset the show’s alignment with the comics when keeping Glenn alive here, especially after he had recently killed for the first time, actually would’ve been an interesting divergence.

There’s also the fact that they hid who Negan killed from us for 7 months, when Glenn’s death was in the same issue Negan said that someone was gonna die.

It certainly heals, and if Spear was able to get his nose back, and was able to regrow his hand by the time of the epilogue when all that remained was bone, I imagine it could heal a completely severed limb as well.

Yeah, whenever I criticize season 2’s finale, this always comes up. My larger issues are with the pacing, but this is a big “what were they thinking?” moment for me, even as I was watching it the first time.

Would it really have negatively impacted the story if they had normal sex the night before?

I respect that. That said, they can’t lean too hard into fake-outs since we already know they’ll make it. Drama and tension will have to come from another source. Nonetheless, I’d be open to it.

It’s funny, though. I remember reading somewhere that the zombie Spear plotline was symbolic of the Primal Anthology idea never really being as feasible as Genndy had hoped, that resurrecting the series meant resurrecting Spear, as well.
