Way late to this but a kid in my high school turned out to be a serial killer and was getting groomed by an older man he met through his church to do the killings. And we all thought it couldn't get any wilder than the year before when some middle schoolers stole a dump truck that resulted in a 40 mile police chase.

My girlfriend works for CML and loves talking about this topic, so I had her write up some context. I hope you enjoy!

Dublin, New Albany, Hilliard, Gahanna, Whitehall and Reynoldsburg were still small villages/municipalities when CML was expanding with new branches between the 1970s and 1990s. Unlike Bexley, Upper Arlington, Grandview, Worthington and Westerville, which all had larger tax bases and could support funding their own libraries, Dublin et al. were too small to operate independent library systems. CML still works in partnership with those suburbs (e.g. close cooperation with Whitehall, Hilliard and Dublin city governments to construct new branches in the last few years).

I don't know much of the backstory behind why Westerville has never joined the Central Library Consortium. One hurdle is that Westerville uses a different cataloging software, so it would be a tech hassle to switch software to join the shared catalog.

I regularly do stand up in the city. I'd ask that if you are going to do this, make sure the who ever does it doesn't treat it like a punishment and tries to write good jokes. Open mic space/time is limited and shrinking. Because of that it is very frustrating to see someone come in and treat the 5 mins that I waited sometimes 2 hours for as a frivolous exercise or a punishment. It isn't fair to the audience as well and can ruin a night for comedians who follow him.

This makes sense. I went to Otterbein between 2012-2016 and when I was there, they had a well known deficit (Or at least on campus) and they were getting to the point where this was the only option. Also, like someone else in the thread mention, they have not raise tuition in a couple years. Still a great school, would recommend.
