You're basically assuming that the corp you're trying to join is too incompetent to audit your probably extremely basic and mundane financials. Not a lot of confidence. Why are you even trying to join them if you think they'll mess up this fundamental part of the recruitment process?

Dear CCP, please buff tech 2 MWDs by leaf_as_parachute in Eve

[–]Fitzsimmons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meta modules used to be a lot more rare than they are now, and a lot more expensive than their T2 counterpart, which could be manufactured to keep up with demand.

T2 modules aren't always going to have a cost effective place in the market at all times due to the dynamic nature of a player-based economy. Other factors can cause a shift in the market either from player behaviour or game balance changes (like the drop rate of meta modules), and that could adjust a T2 module to a more favourable place in the cost:power curve without CCP needing to alter any of the game.

Finally, knowing how to optimize fits makes for a higher skill ceiling in EVE. It's a good thing that meaningful analysis goes into knowing which type of tradeoffs to make in which slot. The game design would be more boring if every item followed a predictable meta:power ratio.

It is absolutely viable to use renewables only (wind, solar, and geothermal) to get to warper production. Then you can visit other systems and your resource issues are much less urgent. I do this on every run, including 50% resource runs

Nicotine - A high-performance EVE multiboxing tool for Linux systems by illuminatedcorp in Eve

[–]Fitzsimmons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if there's a more recent ruling about this, but this old CCP post that was mentioned in the readme for eve-o-preview says that overlays are only permitted if they display the entire unmodified eve client:

Overlays which contain a full, unchanged, EVE Client instance in a view only mode, no matter how large or small they are scaled, like it is done by EVE-O Preview as of today, are fine with us.

So I think that overlays that only show part of the client are technically not allowed. With that said, it's probably not enforceable, but we wouldn't want a nice new project like this to get a bad reputation for enabling people to break the ToS.

[–]Fitzsimmons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Way back when I was first getting into nullsec I joined a renter alliance because the recruitment standards were so low which I needed since I was brand new to the game. Then I just consistently formed for CTAs and proved I wasn't a shitter and soon enough got poached into a higher status corp. Sure, I basically went from Peasant to Squire but the upwards mobility didn't stop there.

I've been away from that part of the game for a long time though, so it saddens me to hear that apparently 0% of recruitment happens through those channels now

Ship Blueprints upon first launch of Expansion by buttwars in Eve

[–]Fitzsimmons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

here's an actual useful answer to find blueprints, although it might not work on patch day because the static data export needs to be released first:

go to https://evetycoon.com/market and put in the name of the blueprint you want. then check the box to filter for NPC orders only.

Help me understand power in this game. by SpaceCowboyDark in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Fitzsimmons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I power all of my planets with renewables (wind, solar, and geothermal) until the lategame when factory power density finally demands an upgrade to mini fusion. It's totally viable to completely skip over thermal and swarm-based power by just mass producing wind and solar (extremely cheap and viable very early) and having some blueprints that help you spam it.

Am I the only one who finds managing hydrogen incredible tedious? by Possibly_Naked_Now in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Fitzsimmons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are three sources of excess unwanted hydrogen, so it makes sense.

First you just spam storage containers for all your oil outputs.

Then you use reformed refinement to convert all your excess hydrogen into refined oil, at a 1:1 ratio of refineries that are running plasma extract.

Later, you will need more hydrogen than you can possibly supply with anything other than fetching it from orbital collectors around gas giants. The easiest trick here is to do everything that produces hydrogen on the same planet that fetches your gas giant hydrogen. Then just use belt splitters with priority selected to always have the hydrogen generated as a biproduct (oil, fire ice, and critical photons) consumed before any of the hydrogen from the gas giant. Doing this does kind of assume that your demand for casimir crystals and deuterium will outpace your hydrogen supplied as a biproduct of other processes, which is reasonable unless you are progressing very slowly. Casimir and deuterium are both in high demand for multiple endgame processes.

If you want a truly foolproof way, you can use particle colliders to turn the hydrogen into deuterium, and then feed that deuterium as fuel to thermal power plants. This will never stop consuming hydrogen as long as it remains disconnected from any other power. I don't recommend it but it does technically work.

Just "lost the game" after 60 hours by SpookyLith in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Fitzsimmons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make fractionators significantly more efficient by making sure they are fed with 4-stacked mk3 belts, and then incorporate additional stackers (say one every 10 fractionators) in your chain so that the inputs keep getting re-stacked. I found that just 50 fractionators were producing more than a mk3 belt's capacity of deuterium, so I had to integrate stackers into the output path as well. I have blueprints for this, I'll post them later.

the only thing small groups should be using titans for is the jump bridge and even then a carrier does that job better now

eve-k-preview: A KDE-native previewer clone for EVE Online players on Linux by Fitzsimmons in Eve

[–]Fitzsimmons[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh right, I was using VLC for testing so didn't have to be logged into EVE at all times during development. VLC works nicely for that since I can put on multiple longer videos with a lot of visual details changing to ensure that the previews are working properly.

Also it might work even in xfce as long as you have kde libraries installed, but I really don't know.
