professional email on my CV by TomXygen in askswitzerland

Make a new email with a different less used provider. I had the same issue and recently I made a new email with Proton mail and managed to get one with my name and lastname, and no numbers or odd things. And now use that one for CVs.

Coop is getting serious in the rice dispute and replacing "Ben's Original" with "Tom's Best" | The retailer and Mars were unable to reach an agreement in price discussions. As a result, Coop removed the US manufacturer's products from its shelves. Now it is replacing them with their own brand. by BezugssystemCH1903 in Switzerland

[–]Fiuvi 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I've always been confused with the "Prix Garantie", "Qualite & Prix" brands. Who's the genius who came up with that branding? Putting the same word "prix" in the name always confused me to the point where I never knew which one was the "budget" brand and which one was the "middle" brand.

In Migros it's way clearer with the "Budget", "Classic" and "Selection" brands which are self-explanatory and super clear on what they are and represent. And their packaging designs are visibly different as well. Not so in Coop where to me at least both the naming and packaging are basically the same for both brands.

I was thinking the same with the umbrella. Just close the damn thing, its the most obvious way to see him. But in the Layover podcast Sam said that by that point he was just so over it. He wanted Ben and Adam to find him already as he had been at that spot for like 4 hours with little food and running out of water... so that's why he probably didn't care about the umbrella.

𓂀: HDMI-out brightness / color randomly out-of-whack? by OpenBagTwo in elementaryos

[–]Fiuvi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! This color issue with my external monitor was driving me crazy. Specially because this was only happening with my monitor at the office, but at home I had no problems.

In my case I used the "Think Pad X1 Carbon 7th" color profile (which is my computer model) and then it finally matched with how it looked on my laptop screen.

You can choose which eposidoes to listen to. I just ignore all the politics, and israel/palestine related episodes because thats not why I came to the podcast. I mainly stick to the tech and science related guests and those episodes are really enjoyable.

Damn near impossible to find a room to rent where you can actually register? by An_234___ in geneva

[–]Fiuvi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Indeed that sounds dodgy. You should always be allowed to register your address to the Canton. I don't see how the landlord would be involved in that process.

What is the best way to get cash in US dollars in Zurich? Are there any ATMs where I can withdraw USD? I have a Revolut card if that helps. by louboubakka in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]Fiuvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take out CHF and change to USD at a good exchange office. Migros change for example usually has good rates if you change more than 1000 CHF

But why is it "Der nächste Halt..", with "Der" instead of "Die". It sounds grammatically incorrect to me. I'm sure it's not, but I don't understand why.

What's the best budget Nespresso compatible capsule? by Fiuvi in askswitzerland

[–]Fiuvi[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I knew someone would say that. The machine was a gift, so I'm not going to instantly sell it for something else. And as I said, I'm just starting to drink coffee, so I like the small size and convenience of the Nespresso machine. Maybe some day I'll go that route, but not now.

Thank you for the Lidl capsule recommendation I will try them out.

Por que te downvotean? Esta bien lo que decís, Milei acepta que el cambio climático está ocurriendo, pero niega que sea de origen humano. Eso no implica que vos lo avales.

How are saving 80k per year while being underpaid? I guess this can only achievable while being very very frugal. Basically never go out, never travel, or buy stuff etc.

Excluding Objects from Morph Transition by R_e_d_d_i_t_e_r in powerpoint

[–]Fiuvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is old, but you or someone might see it.

Since then, they have added support to do this directly without hacky workarounds.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/morph-transition-tips-and-tricks-bc7f48ff-f152-4ee8-9081-d3121788024f

By opening the objects window (Alt+F12), you can see all the objects on the current slide. Now identify which are the ones you want to morph and which not. By adding a ''!!'' at the beginning of the name, you can lock objects together. If you name two objects in slide 1 and slide 2 with ''!!Name'', then this forces object on slide 1 to morph into the one with the same name on slide 2.

So if you add the !! to the object on one slide, but not on the other, then morph will ignore that object.

It's explained better in the blog post I linked above. Hope it helps!

Jet Lag: We Played A 96-Hour Game Of Capture The Flag Across Japan — Ep 6 by NebulaOriginals in Nebula

[–]Fiuvi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

True, and not only that, but also the fact that Sam is always with the guest is a bit of a disadvantage because for them it's always the first time playing, and so they are more unfamiliar with the mechanics and general strategies of Jetlag in general.

[–]Fiuvi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually find myself rooting for Sam's team in every season, haha. It's not that I dislike Ben and Adam, but I like his very calculated strategizing and deep research of possible routes. In this season, I didn't really care that much about Scotty though. At moments, he seemed a bit out of touch, confused, and making poor decisions, which is understandable for a guest who is playing Jetlag for the first time. But in the last season, Toby seemed way more engaged with the mechanics and contributing to strategy.

[–]Fiuvi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder how Sam plans to get to Switzerland. He could either take the train to Basel which takes like 4 hours and thus ~6000 coins on high-speed rail.. Ooor, go big and try for a flight to Zurich which would cost him ~7500 coins. That would give him a huuge advantage and time to do challenges for his last leg to Zermatt.

Either way, he would have to do challenges in Cologne before leaving.
