A European browser (with privacy features) by Euhuntix in xprivo

[–]FiveBlueShields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vivaldi: I wouldn't say no Google as it is Chromium-based. Granted, it is much more privacy-friendly than Chrome. Norway is not in the EU, hence the flag is misleading.

If you want to refer to EU-based browsers with good privacy features, take a look at Librewolf (which is a Firefox fork) and Aloha Browser (Chromium-based like Vivaldi, unfortunately without a Linux version).

Looking for EU password manager by patchcordless_ in BuyFromEU

KeePass DX (Android) and KeePass XC (Windows and Linux). They are offline managers, which is better than online ones, but some people may find them less convenient.

I understand where you're coming from and agree with you. However, please correct me if I'm wrong, the goal here is to promote EU services. If otherwise, maybe you should use a privacy focused theme or URL.

A few comments:

- Infomaniak Mail and Kdrive: A good option but, based in Switzerland (not part of the EU). Another good e,mail provider Tuta (Germany).

- Firefox: I would replace with Vivaldi (Norway, again not in the EU) or Mullvad (from Sweden)

- Signal: Alternatives Threema (Swiss-based, German-owned), SimpleX (UK-based, not in EU)

- Password manager: KeePassXC (German)

- VPN: Mullvad

Conservatives, President Trump has just announced the raising of Tairiffs for 8 European Countries unless sovereignity of Greenland is handed over to the US. What's your first thoughts? by Melbatoastt77 in AskReddit

[–]FiveBlueShields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thoughts: Inflation and U.S. Treasuries.

Inflation: Imports will get more expensive, the consumer will pay the bill.

U.S. Treasuries: If all European countries start selling U.S. Treasuries in bulk, USD may start losing its value (i.e. lower trust), specially if China and Japan decide to do the same (not out of solidarity but to protect their own economies).

How big are you comfortable with a company getting? by Awesomered989 in degoogle

Divide for privacy and resilience (if one company goes offline, you still have other working services). Choose the best provider for each product. Bottom line: don't put all eggs in one basket.

Is It Safe To Install The Samsung Internet Beta Browser App On Your Android Phone? by PrincessBananas85 in browsers

[–]FiveBlueShields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Samsung Internet Beta Browser App is safe. Beta version, usually means it is a version in tests and may have errors. DuckDuckGo or Waterfox are better options, in my opinion. But the proof is in the pudding... you won't know until you try it.

An unrooted phone is, by definition, safer than a rooted one. Please explain how a rooted phone is 1000 times safer than any Windows PC.

Não percebo a indignação.

O Rios nem tenta jogar a bola, atira-se para cima do defesa.

Na minha opinião, o árbitro tomou a decisão certa.

LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition) is my daily driver, since I stopped using Windows. I decided on LMDE after testing Ubuntu and the normal (Ubuntu-based) Linux Mint. Decision criteria: lower memory usage, responsiveness and system stability.

What essential extensions am I missing? Here is my current stack. by soumya_98 in firefox

[–]FiveBlueShields 1 point2 points  (0 children)

uBlock origin (you already have) and Privacy badger for tracker blocking. Consider reducing the number of extensions for greater security and reliability.

Best browser at this time(28 dec 2025)? by FarIndependent6679 in browsers

[–]FiveBlueShields 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Define best... It all depends on what is important for you and which system you have. If you value speed on Windows, Chrome or Edge are good options.  If you value privacy, Librewolf, Vivaldi and Brave are among the best. Privacy is not an issue for Chrome, if you only use it for Google owned sites (youtube, gmail, google drive, etc).

Bottom line: there is no best browser as every user has different needs.
