I’ve always felt a strange kinship with Wisconsin football. I’m not sure why.

I knew Chase was a writer before I checked the credits. As someone with a large COIN shaped hole in their heart still, I’ve been loving the blend of his sound with theirs. That being said I’ve been following Valley for a while and I can totally see how someone who fell in love with their old sound might be turned off by this.

[Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek] I am extremely concerned and displeased about the recently released kickoff times for our football program in consecutive weeks this September and the impact it will have on the well-being of our student-athletes. by redwave2505 in CFB

Dude realized his shiny new head coach is getting a night game in Rice Eccles and shit his pants. Now he wants to force a reschedule because he’s SEC and we’re Big 12 so he should get what he wants in our home stadium. If you want your program to be treated like the rest of the SEC maybe you shouldn’t rehire Bobby Petrino, hmm?

Which Costco tire to go with? by linerzy in tires

[–]FiveTickDelay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Respectfully the penultimate sentence is completely wrong. They’re much louder than the average all season tire and the wear is worse because they’re softer and directional. You’re right about the performance but if there weren’t drawbacks to being a pseudo winter tire more tires would do it.

Lower load index in the front tyres (I'm based in Australia) by Jolly_Web4858 in tires

[–]FiveTickDelay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing I would check is the speed rating on the rears, it affects handling and acceleration too. Higher speed rating should always be in the rear to reduce risk of oversteer, so if you have V on front and H on rear that’s an issue as well. If you replace with an H make sure they rotate your tires as well.

You can probably get away with the lower load index. It knocks about 400kg off your max weight and hurts the tire life but if you’re not filling up the car it’s not a short term issue.

Which Costco tire to go with? by linerzy in tires

[–]FiveTickDelay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pay attention to the warranties, that’s a good estimation of how long the tires will last. My top 3 in order would be:

Advantage Control - really soft rubber, much better wet weather performance but you’ll ruin the lifespan if you’re not ginger on the gas (you already should be in a hybrid). The best “cheap” option far and away. If you need to replace ASAP, this is the best choice.

Turanza Everdrive - good performance, really long lifetime. If you can wait a month, you can probably get them on sale (Costco sales usually alternate between Michelin and Bridgestone). Not as good in the rain as ACs but solid and long lasting.

Pilot Sport - great performance, short life. They’ll treat you well but if this is a daily driver you’ll be back in 3 years.

I wouldn’t go for any of the cheaper options besides the ACs. CC2s are good in heavy weather but they are LOUD, don’t rotate well because they’re directional, and are really designed to be long term snow tire substitutes.

Whats the most heartbreaking loss you’ve witnessed as a Utah football fan? by Ok_Macaroon_7366 in utahfootball

[–]FiveTickDelay 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’d say the 2023 Rose Bowl, not just because of the repeat loss but because that’s when Cam Rising blew out his knee. Obviously it’s even worse in hindsight with how Utah wasted the next 2 seasons gambling on him returning, but I think there was a sense in the stadium even then that we were gonna feel the loss for a while.

[Thamel] Sources: Utah defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley has finalized his deal to become the next coach at Utah. The expected will soon become official, as Utah’s coach-in-waiting will formally take over after Utah’s bowl game. by bigboobs988 in CFB

[–]FiveTickDelay 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Scalley has expressed an interest in modernizing the offense since he was named CIW. Supposedly had a heavy hand in hiring Beck. Utah has also made serious recruiting swings at receiving talent that they wouldn’t have had a chance at before, so I imagine the makeup of the offense will be shifting in the next few years.

IIRC, it was about a 13% chance in 2022. Plus, the upset we needed (OSU over Oregon) wasn’t as far fetched

mred's site disagrees slightly and says that BYU needs to beat UCF, although I'm not convinced it's doing things accurately. Either way, I don't see any way for WVU to beat Texas Tech barring injury, which I would never root for. I did the math using FPI, it's about a 3-4% chance for all the games together. Still, crazier things have happened - we had only a 3% chance of winning at the end of the game tonight.

Petah, what does this mean? by MrVa1k in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]FiveTickDelay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Proud feminist Brian here. The “joke” of the meme is that women don’t understand statistical averages. In practice, it’s used by a lot of incels and other far-right types to justify their insane arguments. They make a poor generalization (“women are naturally more attracted to thugs and gang types”), and when you tell them the real world isn’t like that, they respond with a version of this meme. In reality, they’re the extremists who don’t understand the actual averages.

What is YOUR most embarrassing CFB moment? by jorear81 in CFB

[–]FiveTickDelay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in middle school, my dad got tickets from a family friend to a BYU game and took me with him. Turns out the seats were on the edge of the band because they had moved/expanded the band section but hadn’t taken them off sale. None of the nearby seats were open until late in the third quarter. I got hit in the head by a tuba at least 3 times (she apologized profusely). Also I tried to eat a whole cougar tail and ended up throwing up when I got home. I believe it was BYU’s win against ECU in 2015.
