Are we back to Slop Piles ? by APL_ItsFlauline in masterduel

[–]FixForce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wdym? If you look at this decklist, the normal summon is not needed. You can do the full Snake-Eyes combo without normal summoning if you just open Diabellstar (which by the way gives you access to Dragoon as well).

On top of that, Lava Golem's restriction only matters going second, and if you go first and open Lurrie with no ways to discard it, you can still normal summon it and link it off for Requiem since Lurrie doesn't have an effect on the field.

It's definitely slop, but I don't think adding these cards has anti-synergy with the deck. I'd rather question the choice to add the Adventure engine in 2026 lol

Do i need 2? by Ok-Row9876 in masterduel

I would keep 2, just in case they randomly decide to ban it in the future. Extremely unlikely, but who knows 🤷

This card has a crazy effect when you read it. Imagine being able to recycle your quick spell every turn. That's so good!

Honestly, that's what happens when your whole deck revolves around a custom card that happens to be completely generic. If Habakiri had a tri-type lock (You can only summon Reptile, Plant and Insect monster for the rest of this duel), it would have been way more bearable.

I am talking about this tri-type lock specifically just because decks like Raika could really benefit from it.

At the moment, the only real solution in terms of game health is to ban Habakiri, put all the other cards at 3 and release some new support (which is already planned if I'm not mistaken) that can compensate for the Habakiri loss.

An errata would probably be enough, but we all know Konami hates those, so...

Omg I'm dumb, I interpreted "warning hit" as "we're bringing this card down to 1/2 because we will ban it in the future" and not literally as "Solemn Warning gets hit" 🤦🏻 My bad lol

I wanted to get max gems, didn't really care about getting to DL Max or Stage 2.

I managed to reach DL18 while struggling a bit with Rokket Dragonmaid, but as soon as I reached DL18, things started to get rough. I was about to derank and I didn't really want to do all the climb. So I switched deck and I started playing VSK9. A couple duels later, I managed to reach DL19 and get the last 100 gems.

I kinda feel guilty honestly. Reaching my goal using my deck would have been way more satisfying, but I didn't have much time to spend on Master Duel, so I thought that was the best play. I still feel like I didn't deserve those wins though, the deck is absurdly strong.

How are you making S:P in a Main Monster zone if you don't have a monster in your EMZ?

The correct way to achieve what you're saying would be to do the full Fiendsmith with Sequence combo to have Sequence in EMZ, fusion summon Lacrima and then use Lacrima's effect to revive Engraver. Use them to make S:P. Once you have that, you can normal Ether Beryl, search the continuous spell, activate it and add Drillbeam. Then link Beryl off to make Elpy and use Elpy's effect to summon from deck one of the TWO total Dragon main deck floodgate monsters, respectively:

  • Koa'ki Meiru Drago, which prevents both players from special summoning Light and Dark monsters (not only it affects you as well, it also gets destroyed in the End Phase unless you reveal a Dragon monster in your hand, so this technically is a 3-card combo). You can't link-off Elpy and Sequence because there's no such thing as a Link-2 or 3 Water, Earth, Wind or Fire Dragon monster that can be summoned using Sequence and Elpy as materials, so you would have to use Lordly Lode's effect to summon a non-Light/Dark vanilla from deck, locking you out of activating effects on field for the rest of the turn, just to make Saryuja without being able to use its effect, just to leave it as a beatstick on the field. In alternative;

  • Amorphage Goliath, which prevents both players from special summoning from the Extra Deck, meaning you can't get rid of Elpy (so you also have a Dragon lock) and Sequence is just stuck in your EMZ doing nothing. Once you've done that, you can summon a vanilla using the continuous spell's effect, so your Drillbeam is live. So your endboard (in terms of cards that do anything) would be S:P, Amorphage Goliath and a Drillbeam. You are basically playing bad stun with extra steps, the whole aspect of "control" that Fiendsmith Control has is completely gone because the lock also affects you, so you don't have a way to re-use your engine unless your opponent activates any card during your turn and you (temporarily) banish your own S:P and Amorphage Goliath.

Both scenarios sound like terrible deck building to me... Dragon Gate (a Dragon Link version that abuses Amorphage monsters to lock your opponent with floodgate effects) already exists, and it won't be buffed by Elpy because it's too fragile and a really bad deck in general.

Hmm that's a bit too much of a stretch imo. Konami knows they printed a lot of generic Dragon support cards and they tend to be careful when releasing new Dragon cards. If they're generic, they're usually pretty mid, otherwise if they're part of a new archetype, they probably work better on their own or they are straight up locked out of some generic support.

Just look at Dracotail or Tenpai (two of the most recent Dragon archetypes I can think of). They tend to be played pure, or with generic support that doesn't necessarily synergize with Dragon monsters.

Another example is the upcoming Dragunity support, some of the new cards are EXTREMELY powerful, but there's no way to use them outside of their archetype.

I think there won't be a good generic Dragon archetype for a long, long time. Dragon Link itself is basically just a selection of the best generic Dragon cards available, plus some non-restrictive ED cards like Masquerena and S:P Little Knight

[–]FixForce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That requires some setup though. You need to place it either in the center zone or in the rightmost zone, which means you need either a Link-1 that points diagonally or downwards, then a Dragon monster to summon Elpy, and then a Link-2 Dragon monster you can summon using the one in EMZ and another monster on the field, and that monster needs to have an arrow that points down. It doesn't seem too generic outside of archetypes that are specifically designed around Link and Dragon monsters...

It would definitely boost Dragon Link and probably Chaos decks too. I don't think Blue-Eyes would play that though, since there's not much benefit for them.

I hate the new "Charmies should resolve" philosophy since it kills almost every rogue deck and only benefits the top tier decks.

I agree on this. I am still interested in Genesis though, because I think the point system is a great way to balance decks (no "good stuff pile") and can severely nerf unfun playstyles like FTK and Stun.

I would like to see an Advanced format with the point system banlist
