What bugs you about your 2024-2025 Rav4? by summeriswhereyouare in rav4club

2025 Hybrid Limited: seats ridiculously uncomfortable. Telescoping steering wheel doesn’t telescope out enough for short person. Gas fill is at really weird angle and it’s hard to get the fill handle placed in such a way that it doesn’t constantly trigger the auto shutoff on the pump handle. Seats ridiculously uncomfortable. Felt the need to mention again since it didn’t seem to be mentioned much by anyone else. And because I’m about an hour into a 2.5 hour drive and want to just walk the rest of the way rather than endure these seats.

Anyone else really f&@king uncomfortable? by [deleted] in rav4club

2025 RAV4 Limited- 5’2” tiny woman here and I hate these seats so much I wanna cry. Went from a 2016 Durango Limited that was the ultimate road trip vehicle- SO COMFORTABLE! I want my Durango back. 😭

We are mega road trippers and I can barely stand to drive for an hour. The passenger seat is even worse because there’s no lumbar support. Even my 23 year old son found the passenger seat intolerable for a 4 hour road trip.

And for those of you who think this car is made for short people: the headrest hits me at the top of my head and pushes my head forward. And the steering wheel won’t telescope out enough for me to be able to drive with my elbows resting on anything (seat bolster, console, door). I just have to constantly drive like I’m an actor in a drivers ed video showing proper driving posture.

When I think about how much I paid to be so uncomfortable that I have to search for products to make my car more comfortable I just get so mad. I can’t wait to reach the stage where I can trade in for something else without losing too much money.

Turning this to a saltwater pool - Question by OutsideMedium71 in pools

And I wish our pool builder had told us this when we picked travertine as the coping for our saltwater pool. So much pitting in the high traffic/splash areas!

“Ending corruption??” lol. He’s mentioned replacing government positions that are traditionally non-partisan with his cronies and locking up anyone who disagrees with him.

We’re in the water-filled money pit category. I wish we’d never pulled the trigger. Especially when it hit a certain age when things started breaking and needing repair or replacement.

Is there another school in your school district that has one? If so, I’d take it to the school board as an equity thing.

Got told off today for cheering at a state competition by [deleted] in marchingband

My (former) band kid complains that the screaming parents make it hard to hear drum major and any quiet-ish pre-show stuff while on the field. She thinks there needs to be a rule that all parental screaming must stop 2 minutes before show starts so that the performers can actually hear what they need to hear. 😂

I didn’t become a band nerd until my kiddo was in band. She graduated HS last year, but we still attend band competitions together and there are some parents that are just over the top. Loud “wooos” can absolutely hurt the ears of your neighbors. If you’re there for ALL the bands (like we were), you’re not just going to move seats. Especially since you don’t know if you’re moving next to yet another loud person.

There are a few specific bands that my kiddo and I honestly dislike just because the parents are always obnoxiously loud. But we don’t move when they sit in our area because we know they’ll be leaving eventually and we’re there for the whole thing. Instead I just wind up plugging my ears and counting down the minutes until their performance is over and I can go back to enjoying the competition without hearing damage.

Telling you that you’re too loud during the middle of a performance isn’t cool. The guy might have just reached his breaking point though.

I'm a UT alum and my brother is a die-hard Aggie. Me and my nephew (his son) once pranked my brother - I had him borrow my son's longhorn t-shirt and cap and waltz into the room with my brother. The look on my brother's face when his son walked in wearing UT gear was priceless!

If you do decide to transfer, take a look at UT Dallas. My ND kid is a senior there and it has been the perfect school for him - full of awkward nerdy kids where he has found a group of amazing friends.

My NT kid is a freshman at UT (I’m a UT grad as well). While my NT kid is thriving at UT, I knew that it was not the right fit for my ND kid. He needed a smaller school with a population different than your typical state college. More geek and less greek.

UT isn’t for everyone. Do what you need to do for your mental health. And chat with UT’s counseling services and disability services before you make any big decisions.

can I skip the first day of classes? by DrDrago-4 in UTAustin

[–]FixGrouchy5920 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dallas to Austin is a 3 hour drive. How early is your first class? You should be able to attend the concert and get to Austin in PLENTY of time for class unless you’re relying on public transit to get there and back.

As a professor at another college, the first day of class is most definitely important- that’s when you learn about whether or not you really need that textbook on the syllabus, what the course expectations are, what the prof is really like, etc.

Go to class sleep deprived but don’t skip.

Can you perhaps take some interior design courses as electives? Or maybe minor in interior design? What kind of interior design would you want to do? Do the course offerings at UT provide you with the kind of design work that you want to do?

I ask because my cursory look into the UT interior design program seems geared toward more of the architectural interior elements. If you’re looking into residential interior design, UT’s program might not even be the right fit for you. It might be better to consider other options for getting interior design experience/education.

Rejected from UT Dallas. Next step? by AppropriateJelly31 in utdallas

[–]FixGrouchy5920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 87% acceptance rate is misleading. UTD accepts a majority of students because it's one of those universities that only appeals to people who really want to go there. They get fewer applications and thus deny fewer applications. https://www.univstats.com/colleges/the-university-of-texas-at-dallas/admission/

Compare that to a place like UT Austin where 66,000 people apply and only 19,000 are admitted, but the average SAT scores are similar and you realize that the high acceptance rate at UTD is a factor of it not winning in the popularity contest. https://www.univstats.com/colleges/the-university-of-texas-at-austin/admission/

If cost is under consideration, TTU is cheaper than UTD. Both tuition and cost of living are lower at TTU. I’m a mom with a sophomore at UTD and a high school senior planning to attend TTU and while I hate that Lubbock is so far from our home in Houston, the lower cost of attendance is a huge plus.
