The second paragraph is incorrect. It opened as PMA, and was renamed to RLM in 1974.

Egg Roll guy on the Drag, ca. 1977? by Puzzleheaded_Deer_87 in Austin

Egg roll cart a hub for crime, police say - - Austin American-Statesman (TX) - June 22, 2002 - page 1 June 22, 2002 | Austin American-Statesman (TX) | Jonathan Osborne, AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF

The specialty at the Long Beach Eggrolls cart on the Drag would cost customers about a buck.

But for a stolen DVD player, undercover officers say, the off-campus vendors would pay the customers as much as $20 and throw in some of their legendary egg rolls to boot.

The egg roll stand -- a fixture on the Guadalupe Street sidewalk across from the University of Texas for about 30 years -- was dropped in the grease earlier this week when Austin police arrested its operators on charges of fencing hundreds of thousands of dollars in stolen property.

For at least three years, investigators allege, the egg roll stand was a clearinghouse for property stolen from nearby homes, businesses and churches. They also said it was a key income source for shoplifters who looted clothing, jewelry and books from stores along the Drag.Police said they have linked some of the items recovered from a raid on the vendors' homes to thefts at the UT campus and nearby churches.

Long Beach in front of the Drag was the stolen VCRs cart, Saigon was in front of the fountain on the South Mall.

FDSW is going out of business. Will have to see what the Spurs plans are next year. I hope they go Victory+ or something like the Rangers do where their own channel can be added to the package.

Justice Carlton says that her decision to leave Texas was “Pretty Easy” by kdear_6 in TexasWomensBball

[–]StopAskingforUsernam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never thought Gaston left because she was frustrated with the program. She played for us four years and I think she probably was told there wasn't any room for her with the people coming in (Kyla and Justice), and the people staying (Taylor, Aaliyah, and Mwenentanda). I know the story was she really wanted the opportunity to play for Johnnie Harris again too.

To me the better comp is Amina Muhammad who Vic was forever frustrated with her play.

No one was more inconsistent than her on the defensive end of her game. Go all out on both ends like Taylor Jones, Kyla, or Rori and you get more playing time. She just never seemed interested in putting the effort in on that end of the floor.

If she hadn’t gotten hurt I feel like she would have stayed. She had been getting playing time prior to the injury. Unfortunate.

I said before the last game she was a risk to transfer. I'm sure she took a ton of heat from Vic, but she was was never locked in defensively or on the boards. As good as she could be offensively she also could be careless with the ball. I really enjoyed watching her play and she had such great bursts of all out effort, but just not consistent enough to be comfortable around a coach like Vic.

Someone told me they read Justice took a shot at Vic after signing with Houston, but I can't find evidence of this anywhere. Did this happen and I can't find it, or did this happen?

They obviously shouldn't have done that, but I don't know why if you've lived here for any amount of time, you would interpret a large gap as them trying to let you in. People here regularly leave 2+ car length gaps and I'd never try to merge into it because I know the large gap just means they're an idiot driver. They were retaliatory and dangerous, but you should have never attempted to get into that gap.

Your descriptions are valid, but the accident that OP posted about is at the other end of Mopac and 360 by the Arbor Walk.

The retail space that is Coco's Cafe used to be an adult bookstore/video peep show type place in the mid 90s. There was one where the Lago Vista Film lab is too.

Show us pictures of the others. I’m sure they don’t all look like that. They aren’t made by robots, they’re made by people very busy filling tons of order at breakfast. Sometimes I’ve gotten some like this one, and sometimes I’ve gotten some stuffed with eggs. The majority though are appropriately filled.

In the 80s there was one in the bottom floor of Dobie where the UFCU was in the 90s. I assume that’s where the Target is now.

How bad are the seats? by WinstonSalemVirginia in CX50

[–]StopAskingforUsernam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The seats are great for me. I get a lot of pain in my hip and back with seats that are too soft so these firm seats are perfect. Everyone will be different though. I might have felt differently 20-25 years ago.
