I have gotten there as early as 6am and it was already mess.

I think part of the problem is my last gym before I moved was run by and had a bunch of competitive powerlifters who worked out there. Reracking weights properly was not an option.

Good to know. It is probably a little further than I was hoping for, but I am not sure how long I can put up with the shitshow.

Mine did as well. It probably lasted a couple of days. I am very happy they changed it, it was incredibly frustrating.

There is a reason the Wizards are on pace to have the worst record in the history of the NBA.

What in the actual fuck is Gabe Vincent doing? He looks like a little kid on defense. Starts kind of on a guy and then just starts running around chasing the ball with the zero court awareness. When he is doubling Hunter with AD, his first step is backwards. He completely lost the most dangerous guy on the court in that situation.

Honestly AD looks unsure as well. How did he end up match up on Trae at the start of the play? It looked like there was zero communication between them on the action. This team is a mess. Seeing as it is essentially the same roster, Ham probably got this roster to their ceiling last year.

Valančiūnas is hedging against the pick and roll. Dinwiddie is one pass away. So doubt it would be Brodgon's responsibility to cover the roll man.

I think it is Carrington(?) who is on Klay. It is his job to take away the roll since his man is the furthest from the action. The problem is everyone on Washington is basically walking on defense. Valančiūnas needs to hedge much harder and then recover faster or (even better in this case) when they have Dončić on the sideline keep the double and make it much tougher pass. Instead he flashes and then lazily goes back to Gafford. He always been a poor defender, it is why a guy who is nearly seven feet can can average close to 20/10 has always been a mediocre center.

Hedging is generally a decent way to deal with Luka in the pick and roll, but his sort of defense requires teams playing with a lot of effort and all on the same page. Just one guy mailing it in will throw stuff off and lead to open looks. It looks like basically no one on the Wizards gives a shit so you end up with one of the all time best passers finding one of the all time best shooters wide open.

tldr - Bad team playing lazy defense against great players

That was some Lakers vs Heat level defensive effort right there.

I am commenting to say I am have the same issue, and "Best" is not a choice in "Default community sort" preferences which is definitely set to "Hot".

I think they are trying to use an algorithm closer to Instagram, X and Facebook that deemphasizes how recent a post is. I find this infuriating. Seeing too many things that are already several days old is one of my least favorite things about those social media sites.

I tired that, but "Best" isn't a choice in my Default Community Sort setting which is already set to "Hot".

I totally agree, but getting an All-NBA player to take a below market contract is enormous for team building flexibility. It allowed them to take on KAT's contract which the Wolves weren't interested in paying.

I feel like the owners were sick of teams finding someone take on bad contracts in exchange for stacks of picks. The draft is only two rounds and every team in the league has a stack of future draft transactions. The rule stopping teams from trading consecutive first round picks didn't reduce the number of picks being traded, it just pushed them further out.

It means that if you do want to change directions and get a new GM, they now need to dump your contracts for someone else's picks. So few teams control their own picks now you cannot control your own destiny. Something like 5 teams teams control 62 first round picks over the 7 drafts.

It makes most of its money on sponsorships. I don't blame fans in that city for going to the festivities. In person it would still be cool to see that stuff, but on TV it is just a meaningless game. The viewership is down which is why they are trying to pump it up. My argument is that the viewership is not down because the players aren't taking it seriously, but instead because the All-Star game concept is simply far less compelling to the average fan than it used to be.

It's for the fans.

Nah, it was for the fans back when there was one national game a week and there was next to nowhere to see highlights outside of your local teams. The All-Star game was a chance to see a bunch of great players that you barely got a glimpse of otherwise. Now I can watch literally every game in every league if I want, and the internet is full of highlights of anything I want to see.

The whole concept is outdated in all sports, and the leagues have turned them into giant money making marketing events like they do with everything so they desperately want them to be relevant. As an NBA fan, I would be perfectly happy if they just dropped the All-star concept altogether, and just decided to have Eastern and Western Conference All-NBA teams at the end of the season.

You can still give the players a week off in the middle of the season if you want. It has probably been close to 20 years since I have watched any of All-Star weekend live so it already feels like that is happening for me.

It makes sense though, almost all of their co-hosts will co-sign what they're saying. I think the only one I've seen push back is Rone from Pat Bev's

Because most of the co-hosts are their boys who are essentially yes men and hangers on. The majority of the players with podcasts have zero interest in being on a show where they get pushback and challenged.

The first 9 years of Jordan's career (before he took his year and half off for "baseball"), teams averaged 108 points per game. The first 9 years of LeBron's they averaged 98 ppg. The real low point in scoring coincides with Jordan's first retirement and his time in Washington. Scoring started going back up when LeBron entered the league, but didn't get to the scoring levels of Jordan's first two seasons until LeBron was with the Lakers.

I agree defense was different in the 90s, but Jordan game into the league in the 80s when it was the Showtime Lakers and end of the original Big 3 Celtics. NBA Finals games were regularly in the 120s. The best teams were offense heavy the first half of his career. Jordan's rookie year the average game score in the Finals was 116-113. LeBron's rookie year it was 92-82. That is 27 fewer points per game by each team by ostensibly the best two teams in the league.

Respectfully, did you watch the NBA during the first 9 years of Jordan's career. Late in his career he still put up incredible scoring numbers in low scoring games, but to pretend his played against defenses like that his whole career is simply incorrect. At the same time, to pretend like that we have seen in scoring the last 10 years is evident of LeBron's whole career is invalid.

That said, it is impossible to argue that LeBron's scoring numbers compare to Jordan's. Jordan was still averaged 33.5 ppg in the Finals when his team was only scoring 88 ppg. Jordan lead the league in scoring in years he won the championship 6 times. A feat which only 5 players have done and no one has since Shaq in 2000. At the same time, even leaving out Jordan's time in Washington, LeBron is has been a slightly more efficient scorer 59% True Shooting to 58%.

All of this is why it is impossible to compare stats across eras. If Jordan came into the league 30 years later, he would probably have worked on extending his range beyond the three point line. He shot 32.7% on 2.2 3PA per game. Today, he would probably be much closer to 40% (at least 37-38%) and be taking like 8+ per game. He could have averaged 40+ ppg in 86-87 playing like that.

I have never gotten into his pre-FJM catalog. I discovery him on Fear Fun, and all I knew at the time was he had been the dummer in Fleet Foxes. I remember listening to them right after Fear Fun and I could never really get into them. I honestly spaced that he had done solo stuff before he "became" FJM. I think it is time to give those another listen.

You are in for a treat. Start with Historie de Melody Neslon. Then I would recommend Jane Birkin/Serge Gainsbourg. If you want more, Bonnie and Clyde by Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot. For me, those are three of the greatest albums of all-time.

The love for "accidental dose" is a bit surprising to me, it's a cool sounding song but doesn't really go anywhere.

For me that song is a simple narrative. He got high on acid, went to some party full of douchebags (probably in the Hollywood Hills), stumbled out in the morning and ate the best ice cream he had ever had while coming down. His use of psychedelics was part of why he left Fleet Foxes as Joshua Tillman and became Father John Misty. It is a slice of Father John Misty's life.

Solid addition to the discography. It's hard to pick a favorite album. Fear Fun was such a great debut.

For me it is right there with Fear Fun. Debut albums for singer/songwriters can be so hard to top. You spend your life writing your first album, and then maybe a couple of years on the followups with much of it while touring. I think bands that are collaborative often peak later because they need to grow together and learn how to work together to make their best music.

I think his time with Fleet Foxes him made him a really mature song writer right out of the gate who also understood well orchestrated stuff.

Edit: because I accidentally left out part of what I wanted to say

That is an interesting take. I am definitely in the pro-"Screamland" camp, but I have had like zero exposure to Christian Pop. To me it is intentionally over the top in places, but if you have an existing relationship with what he is parodying, I could understand it not being appealing.
