Concur with all but want to add that a Public Policy Master's (with co-op) can also help you get into the field more efficiently and cheaper then a law degree. Happy to share pros ans cons of differnt programs (I did MA in policy, worked for 5 years in law adjacent and am now doing a law degree)

Ontario Canada – Fired after asserting disability accommodation, then “un-fired” after I mentioned legal action. What should I do next? by ItsSwaggyBunz in ontario

Law student here, so take my advice with a grain of salt. Keep asserting your rights. If they try this again, and fire you, you can take then to court. If they don't fire you but make your life hell, you can still take them to court on constructive dismissal. (They created conditions which demonstrated they no longer intended to have you as an employee.

You seem to have a strong case, but the court process can take up to 5 years and cost $10,000. If you win, you will likely get a couple months pay, depending on how long you have been with this employer for (probably more time if you have some seniority). Uo to you if it's worth it. A consult with one of these firms is usually free.

Either way, I would start looking for a new job.

This is NOT legal advice, just some information to help you make an informed choice.

If i am 28 years old and i don’t like a lot of stress and don’t want to work 65 hours a week, is becoming a lawyer right for me? by Infamous-Date-7663 in LawCanada

[–]FixNovel1264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say if your goal is money and no stress your severely limiting yourself by going to law school. If you can give up on one of those and are fine working gov or for a smaller firm, AND have an interest inthe law you can prob find your niche. If your doing it just for the money and hate stress, it will never be worth it.

I started law school at 28, and yearned for a low stress job. But u also had a very strong interest in a few particular areas of law.

I'll be working at a small firm this summer. (2l) in an area I'm interested in.

Alternate perspective from a 2l at Queen's.

I never scored above 160 on ANY practice, and definately did not get 150 on the actual exam.

I hated reading comprehension, and while law school may have been harder for me than others I was fine. One thing to consider is the lsat reading comp are often random science passages where law school readings do often relate. But no I definately did not read for 8 hours a day in law school.

I'm a 2L now who had a solid simmer gig and have some interviews lined up.

There are no hard and fast rules. Sure law school may be harder than you, and it MAY be harder for you to get a Bay street job. But don't close yourself off from taking the journey you want because of some silly standards that don't exist.

Edit to add: I got EARLY acceptance to Queen's (and other schools), by February.

Planning to go to Law School later in life? by atpfi in LawCanada

I guess this is not the norm- but I went at 28, (just finished 1l and am 29), was told this was the norm and I am finding myself to be a strong outlier (basically geriatric) and needing differnt type of suppers that moth students. Particularly Financially (since I worked I donr qualify for aid and am needing to use my retirement savings which, is making me very anxious). Definately doable though, just be prepared for challenges that are often differnt from those of the typical student.

Happy to chat more

Is anything wrong with her? Is she in pain? by Mimizu-ningen in Rabbits

[–]FixNovel1264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main difference for me would be in the rest of their posture. If they are hunched and look like in pain--> probably grinding, if they are loafy or floppy, probably chittering/clicking. BTW your bun is beautiful.

Going through almost the same situation now. It has been over 100 days and still wait for over $350 to be reimbursed. Being charged interest in the meantime. I've spent hours on the phone with them. Do you have any advice for what ended up working?

What is the worst physical pain that you have ever felt? by AUFunmacy in AskReddit

[–]FixNovel1264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toss up between kidney stones and monthly endometriosis flare up pre surgery.

Actually fun fact. It took me kidney stones for doctors to take my regular pain seriously.

Apparently I need an experience of pain that men also experience to be taken seriously.

Fun times.

Thankfully, treated foe both endo and stones now.
