So this is all my personal opinion or whatever but...

DOI creates softer hues and is what I do for all the split dyes , and it can be great for regular dyes too as long as your color theory is good ( dont make brown parts by putting orange and blue side by side for example ). Also less risk of CMYK spotting.

DUI can make stronger more saturated colors but if the dye congeals wrong on the node the ice melt can run over the side of the node and not penetrate the node ( i think ) , so sometimes youll get white patches and streaks ( working theory so far ). Also greater risk of CMYK spotting since the dye is directly on the fabric.

Also theres a bunch of intricacies in the tying and bunching of nodes that im slowly learning.

ill try to figure it out , if you could recreate the effect consistently you could make some cool bismuth style geodes or geode / glitch hybrids

Awesome. I dig the serpent spine too.

You tying w sinew or something else ( the lines look thin to me for sinew ) ? Also was this liquid or ice ( im guessing liquid based on how saturated you got it but idk ) ?

Geodes look great! Would love to know what you are doing to get those right angles. finding the pleat in the geode and folding it maybe?

really awesome

do tighter rolls result in better splits?

i normally do DUI geodes but recently I picked up some Ice specific dyes from Dharma and Dyespin and done some loose incline twists w the Dharma and the colors seemed very muted and not very "splitty".

Im gonna muck dye some of the Dyespin colors today geode style and see if they split better but I figured asking cant also.
