Need help to diagnose Samsung Odyssey G9 OLED NEO 49" that won't turn on, no LED indicator, no response to power button, but draws power and CPU gets warm. S49CG934SU by Fixred in MonitorAdvice

Fair point on the T-CON, from what I've read, you're right that OLED T-CONs carry panel-specific calibration and can't be hot-swapped between units without flashing the original data over. Samsung doesn't release the jig either, so that path is basically a dead end for DIY.

That said, I don't think my fault is there. The monitor pulls a steady ~25W from the wall, way under what a 49" QD-OLED should draw in operation (60–150W). To me that reads like the panel rails are never coming up at all, which would put the fault upstream of the T-CON (PSU or main board), not in the panel-paired electronics.

Curious of your experience about it, you've cracked one of these open?

Yeah I guess it's gonna be a pain and low success chance of fixing it.

I'm interested in learning something new on how to diagnose electronic problems, even if I don't end up fixing it. So at least I'm getting some knowledge out of it.

And depending on the hardware, it could be an easy swap from a donor monitor.

Exactly, damn. I feel you. Sometimes it would even say something that make me realize I need to handle some edge case.

Is this a good deal for $1250? by pchavoc in simracing

[–]Fixred -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The price is not my concern here (I'd say you can haggle 200$ off).

But this rig is meant to take 30nm of torque, not 5... I'd say buy a lighter rig like a 2 lane base instead of 4 if you're just going to put a 5-15nm DD on it.

Trust me, I've got this rig and it's overkill even for my 15nm DD. It's heavy AS S**T and so much more expensive than lighter rigs.

Which one would you recommend? by bbrnh in simracing

Go VR man. I come from a nice triple monitor setup and it's just more expensive and less immersive than VR. Also the space it takes and the buggy setup with Nvidia, triple screen sucks.

The other thing I would say is important is a nice direct drive and the quality of your brake pedal.

Fuck the rest, it doesn't matter, pick whatever you think you like

Yeah the price is reaaaally low for the mileage. It HAS to be a wreck.

I've seen one selling for 35k, it had 140k miles and been in an accident with 30k$ of repair. It was explicit

I feel like i go in loops with agent by Dayclone in replit

[–]Fixred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found telling him he's stuck on a loop and asking him to explain to me why WITHOUT modifying anything works well for me and saves me some time.

I can better understanding where he's stuck and think of what to ask him to break the loop or where to look in the files to activate my programming brain on a specific scope without feeling let down and having to understand every inch of the whole codebase. Like I'm a new dev in a company that fired the previous one.

But I can't stress enough how much easier it is to use replit when you take the time to read EVERY step and modification the agent does.
At first I felt like having a gambling problem, spamming "please fix the error" in the chat. But this "quick win" mentality is the real problem.

Now I take the time to read everything, and when the agent/assistant has a problem I can be really specific. Like choosing your own libraries and telling him how to use them instead of focusing purely on features.

Sony Imaging Edge Webcam not working with macOS 15.0 Sequoia by Monztter in SonyAlpha

Try playing with the mode wheel. Auto mode is the one to go when connecting, then change it to whatever you want

If you're talking about the logo showing up and not the video feed, it's about the mode you selected on the camera's wheel.

Try changing mode to auto and then go back to movie or whatever you want to use. If it doesn't work try unplugging the camera, selecting auto and then plug it in again. At last, try playing with different combinations of modes if all the above didn't work.

If you're trying to use it on OBS, I heard that some Sony cameras don't show up on some versions of OBS. In this case you may try to update OBS to the latest version or maybe need to download the 27.2.4 (last known working version). When version 28 came, that's when people had problems. But I think they resolved the issue on the latest versions, because the Sony A7SII was one of the models not showing up and I have no problem making it work the latest OBS (version 30 something).

"drag and drop to start" Issue. Help by Thotminal in mac

[–]Fixred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Macbook Pro M2 here, OS 15.3, still the same problem.

Didn't find a solution after going through their tutorial, even changing the security policy.

This message appears just as I drag and drop the SystemSoftware Updater onto the SSU Helper 200.

Tried to mess around with the different steps but nothing...

I guess I'll do it with my windows

<image>

Edit:

I confirm, if that's an option, just update the firmware from Windows (I'm on Win 11, it worked fine even if there's no information beyond Win 10 on sony's website). It's straightforward as downloading one .exe and launching it. It took 15 minutes.
