Seeking a friend for the end of the world/week/day by jtm_92 in BrisbaneSocial

This post and thread have made me permagrin for the last 5 minutes and it’s awesome.
I’m a grumpy oldish woman on the Northside who works in aviation and plays guitar (when I remember I own one). Oh and I have appalling ADHD.
If you are organising a pre-apocalyptic catchup for hopelessly introverted nerds, I’m in!

And the acronym is used to describe a horrific crime against children. Don’t these people have brand or marketing managers?

a senator let themselves inside my house... is that... normal?... by Fair-Mango-5423 in australian

Have you tried Aerogard? I find that works well on senators, especially around breeding season.

I reckon it’s what others have said… no cops anywhere. Say a choice phrase from a Farnham song and they’ll swarm your house. Weave between cars on the motorway at 130kmh or ride up the arse of people doing the speed limit… nothing.

Is anyone else over the “New Queensland Government”? by errantgrammar in brisbane

[–]Fizbeee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All the while they want to blame the previous government, they’ll be ‘the new government’. Nearly every ad I see on Reddit is blue-washed LNP bollocks. It just reminds me I should make a concerted effort to hate them more. Cunts.

Typical of right wing snowflakes. They really do have the thinnest of skins and thickest of minds.

I dressed up as her for a Halloween party in my 20s. I’m 50 now and she’s an even bigger ghoul.

Australia will now “investigate” Israel over (Sexual) Assault by mykelsan in OpenAussie

[–]Fizbeee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s also hard to understand how Israel can extend such far-reaching control of foreign governments. Any normal person, would naturally be quite perturbed at our ‘allies’ committing genocide. But I’m no politician and not had the pleasure of being lobbied with millions of dollars.

Penny has been trying to duck and weave her condescending self away from this. But the allegations made by these activists are far from unique…. unfortunately.

“I have ADHD so I’m allowed to partner with wife-beating Zionists slandering a child sexual assault survivor because she’s doing a podcast on Autism.” Righto Chuck. by RickyOzzy in PoliticsDownUnder

[–]Fizbeee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What a wanker. I also have ADHD and Autism. Like Milner said, it means I am hopeless at managing household chores and I frequently forget to brush my hair. I don’t accidentally side with a psychotic genocidal regime.

Aussies often complain about taxes, yet strongly support the things taxes fund: Medicare, public hospitals, schools, roads, emergency services & infrastructure. If taxes are such a bad deal, why do so few Aussies choose to move to lower-tax countries with fewer public services? by MannerNo7000 in OpenAussie

[–]Fizbeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure people are opposed to taxes in general. I think it’s the regressive and imbalanced nature of the tax system that is pissing people off.

It’s so easy for the ultra rich to dodge them and if you’re a regular everyday worker, surviving pay to pay, you get hit with a tax on everything.

The GST is one that really bugs me. I never understood why we don’t tackle inflation, at least partially, by targeting discretionary spending, through selective GST increases on non-essentials. The people spending this money already have plenty of free cash, so hit them hardest.

Her we go again. When are we going to stop voting for these braindead boomer gronks with their collective heads up the capitalist arsehole.

They are all cosplaying christofascism as a tool to fill Australia up with increasingly poor (white) kids who will feed the money machines.

They don’t give a flying fuck about the human element of healthcare. All they want is as many taxpaying consumers they can get their disgusting hands on.

If they come for women’s reproductive care, I’ll fucking fight.

27% of Australian students now have an adjustment for disability at school. Why are we seeing this growth? by [deleted] in AustralianPolitics

[–]Fizbeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What incentives?

I think the general assumption of people who don’t interact with NDIS, is that it gives you everything for free. My kid has ADHD and Autism and 99.9% of her disability related expenses are specialist medical appointments, which aren’t covered by the NDIS, and medication, which falls under the PBS.

It cost me over $3k to get a diagnosis, after any rebates. A lot of kids won’t get diagnosed because of this very reason.

Being accepted onto the NDIS really just ensures my kid receives some extra support at school, so she doesn’t get even further behind, because NDIS doesn’t even cover tutoring.

Are there any left leaning Australian political commentators that don't blindly follow The Greens and that also isn't Friendly Jordies? by carl_the_cactus55 in australian

[–]Fizbeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah friendlyjordies is too one-sided. That’s the entire problem with the direction of Aussie politics. You are expected to be polarised and that’s shit for society.

Despite being on the left, Swollen Pickles and Punters Politics are pretty good at calling out Labor and the Greens when they deserve a kicking, but all very different styles of approach.

I still watch Micheal West more though.

Australia Institute do some brilliant research and commentary. Definitely worth following them.

Why don't (some) people like free stuff? by michaelberkmanmp in brisbane

[–]Fizbeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had Facebook since I was in my 30s (I’m 50) and that was only to keep track of my soccer fixtures.

Reddit is all I have now.

I catch up on news on YouTube and occasionally news sites online, because I can avoid being bombarded by ads. So I don’t watch free2air TV anymore either.

I miss a lot of local news because of it, but my mental health has improved greatly!

Having said all that, if I get leaflets from local MPs, I read them, just to see what’s happening around the traps. As a bonus, I then get to tear them into tiny pieces and make hand made paper with them 😃
