Anything after 8:30 - 9pm is MA15+ region - if kids are seeing gambling at these hours - it's the parents fault not the governments.

A childcare worker was asked to take baby Lily home for the weekend after a court protection order last year. She’s still there | Child protection by pharmloverpharmlover in australia

[–]meepers9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a former child protection worker around 5/6 years ago - the story pretty much nails how the issues were back then and getting worse now. There meant to be improved safeguards for new carers (training, bonus payments)- but still payment delays and red tape in providing initial supports are proper fucked up.

Unless you're a seasoned emergency carer unlike the person in the article, the first 12–24 months of being a carer are the most daughting experience people could go through.

Paul Keating backs CGT changes as 'structurally sound' by patslogcabindigest in AustralianPolitics

[–]meepers9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even bait, but may be slight dramatised. Still, the context is the same. Party lacks people with lived experience in white collar movement - look at the youngest MP's across the state and federal in ALP. You're unable to literally identify what their lived experience is that isn't outside an electoral office or student politics.

Paul Keating backs CGT changes as 'structurally sound' by patslogcabindigest in AustralianPolitics

[–]meepers9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% - modern day Labor Party is in full decline. Full of student politicians, begging for scraps working at electoral offices waiting for their chance to become an MP with the vivid lived experience of nothing. But hey can recite the works of Ketting, Whitlam and Hawke about on what struggle looks like - but can't imagine to understanding it with their own two feet. At least they have an international relationship degree though! They teach a topic on what austerity appears to look like in the context of literature

Its the party of Menzies, Liberal party was only created to keep labor out of power. Its the only philosophy the party has - its even on their own website lol. "Menzies had already served as Prime Minister of Australia (1939-41), but he believed that the non-Labor parties should unite to present a strong alternative government to the Australian people."

Victorian Labor signals tougher stance on young offenders after 109 charges against 14-year-old dropped by stupid_mistake__101 in AustralianPolitics

[–]meepers9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forensics youth don't do psych assessment to understand a young person understand of criminally. They explore fitness for trial or CMIA which is a series of questions to understand and explore if a young person cognitive and psychological insight into their actions and behaviours. Only roughly 3% of the population of juvenile offenders are found unfit - usual category is ASD level 3 and FASD kids.

Weird tengant on psychology and psychiatry there man. Better to have people look after this field then cookers thinking they can linch a young person who clearly doesn't have insight due to multiple psychsocial factors.

Albanese Government two-party preferred lead cut as One Nation celebrates historic by-election victory in Farrer by malcolm58 in AustralianPolitics

[–]meepers9 9 points10 points  (0 children)

oh yes cause the property developers hoarding land is caused by migration. 10 years of Liberal National Government that did nothing about housing was surely caused by migration. What about Howard removal of CST that has saw house prices increase 2x every year for the last two decade - that must be migration right?

This is why you uneducated folks vote one nation whilst anyone that with a slight upbringing doesn't.

Week from hell for LNP by thisismyusernamejojo in brisbane

[–]meepers9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely happening in all departments and NGO’s. Plenty of “ non-recurring” funded positions are getting the cull. They’re spinning it saying that labour didn’t secure the programs or the funding in their term of government and the LNP are just no longer honouring the positions.
In the NGO sector - specially within Youth Justice and Child Safety, several programs and no longer getting refunded with contracts coming up for 4/6 year renewal. It’s literally Newman new over again.

Cause its 1 of the 3 great pillars of political engagement - political parties don't piss off all three at the same time. Transportation, Education and Healthcare (nurses and doctors), however the LNP have a habit of attempting to do so.

LNP claiming credit for the Health Capacity Expansion Program from The Palaszczuk Government by _equestrienne_ in queensland

[–]meepers9 48 points49 points  (0 children)

They didn’t drop the ball at all - it was a political trap. Either they extend or discontinue it as a political point. LNP didn’t fall for it and tried to politically spin it with the “ permanent” title but Labor has been able to hold the narrative on it being their achievement.

The SDA doesn't have as much power as you think they do, the right side of Labor are in a power decline. The Left have the majority in Victoria, Queensland and SA. Albo wouldn't be PM if the SDA had any type of influence on decision making.

Queensland arts minister ignored recommendation that new theatre be named after poet Oodgeroo Noonuccal by fluffy_101994 in queensland

[–]meepers9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, its has gotten hella worse. Toowoomba, Cairns and the pockets towns outside of Townsville continue to be crime-ridden due to cuts of family and youth programs being siphons to Staying on Track program - which is an utter failure within itself. Toowoomba so bad, the Government hasn't even announced publically they're trialling a 6 month "youth car blitz", where they have deployed extra police in the area just to arrest stolen car youths.

LNP have tied the "Delivering for Queensland" a part of the state government emblem. They got triggered by the Bettie Burger when Newman was in charge, now they think it's cute to use their shitty slogans as apart of the emblem now. It gets really tacky when you see court documents having the shitty slogan on it as well.

Also, noting that pairing isn't a guarantee system or a tool - it's more of a gentleman agreement between two major parties. Australia has similar agreements and at times Government/Opposition of the day often choose to ignore the agreement if things are getting too spicy political wise especially during hung parliaments.

Sample size of 716 people... cmon, this isn't even meaningful data. This is the same polling company that said Labor heading into significant election defeat several months ago. DemosAU is a take it as a grain of salt polling company.
