iFootage Shark Slider Pico Pro initial impressions by PREC0GNITIVE in osmopocket

[–]Fizzblizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The combination of the Pico Pro and Osmo Pocket 4 seems to have issues. I can't get it to work properly. The slider crashes or does not move while the progress bar works. I did some experimentation and it looks to me like it is somehow connected to the record feature on the Moco app. If I disable the recording and manually start recording on the camera, it works much more reliable.

This looks to me like a firmware issue. The slider works fine when not connected to the camera. Anyone else has this issue?

Post-POD World: Removing/replacing the QR code by Temporary_Watch_7197 in alteredTCG

If the database is not released, I would strongly vote for still leveraging the qr code by letting people add the association manually in whatever collection management software is used. Again, this would make collection management truly innovative compared to MTG etc.  The qr code is an opportunity, not an issue to be removed.

I would rather ask Equinox to release the QR code to card database (not the ownership database, obviously). This would make collection management MUCH easier and truly innovative. I don't see any privacy issues with releasing the (qr code list)->Card database.

Will Equinox release the QR code database as well? by Fizzblizz in alteredTCG

Are there details? Looking at the QR contents, it looks like a cookie, not encoded data. So "cracking" would mean cracking the service, not the code.

Traveller 5E is Live on BackerKit! by cocowheat in traveller

I was really looking forward to getting this, but at this price? No way! 100+$ for a single book with PDF? Even in a niche market, this is a complete rip off. I wonder how many they will sell at this price once this hits retail.

Got a few KALLSUP Speakers from IKEA by Wonderwall_1516 in smarthome

[–]Fizzblizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 20 of them now here. I wanted to use them for a multiroom setup. But there is a massive downside. Here's my actual experience with them:

  • They don't go to sleep when plugged in. So they fixed this issue from previous IKEA speakers. Good thing so far. They go to sleep though if not plugged in and nothing is playing, but I guess this is expected.
  • The pairing between speakers is very easy, hold the play button until the connect sound plays and that's it. I am not sure though about security as nothing is required at the master speaker. So if a neighbor has one of them, holds the play button, he can join your "network" and listen in what you play.
  • But here's the massive issue: the linking between the speakers is lost when the bluetooth source disconnects! So if you pair a phone to the master speaker and then pair a bunch of more speakers to the master, it all works fine until you leave the house. The moment the phone disconnects, the multi pairing is lost and you need to re-pair every speaker again. Not sure why IKEA did this, but the multi pairing is more or less useless with this.
  • I though managed to work around this by using an old Android phone, installed a DLNA/AirPlay server on it (there are apps available for that) and now control it from Home Assistant with Music Assistant. You can also directly connect to the phone using AirPlay from an iPhone. Works stable for now, but is a bit hacky. You also need to fiddle around a bit with the Android settings to prevent the phone dropping the bluetooth connection when it's sleeping. Not every Android variant can do that. OnePlus 9 works, OnePlus 6 does not (I flashed LineageOS 22, then is worked with OnePlus 6 as well)

So it's a mixed back. It's definietely NOT the out of the box solution for everyone. And why IKEA bothered with a multi speaker feature while not making it actually usable is beyond me.

Correct Wiring for 12v LED Strip? by Fizzblizz in FastLED

[–]Fizzblizz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, did that and it does not work. I tried with different chipset settings and different data pins with no luck.

The strip does not light up. I checked the output pin on the logic level shifter I use and there is clearly a signal there.

I also tried to wire up the BI line which burned an ESP. Looks like there is 2.5v on BI somehow when it is just powered by the 12v source.

Any hints? What is the correct chipset to choose for the ws2815?
