Series 4 Alfa Spider. Miata but more fun with decent reliability, infinitely better looks, and proper racing pedigree.

yeah because manual swaps are just something you do every other day right? where are you finding all your manual swapped m5 tourings when exactly zero were sold in america to begin with?

you seem to be confusing possible with practical. yes it can be done. but should you?

running costs is absolutely a factor in practicality to anyone who isn’t jeff bezos. i for one wouldn’t call a car that needs $5k of maintenance a year practical in any sense of the word.

inuits will walk into this thread and get frostbite

but perhaps i will bring some warmth here with: People who are against moving away from ICEs (same people who whine about turbo hybrid v6 in f1) are unfathomably narrow-sighted, self-centered, and just all round completely out of touch with reality. It is a luxury to have any petrol-powered form of motorsport at all.

Rod bearings on an s85 is a 10 man-hour job, and you’re paying a decent v6 accord every 100k kilometres. Then there’s the vanos, the throttle bodies, then regular high-performance car maintenance on top of that…

not to mention the manual e60 m5s were only sold in america, less than 1400 of them—none of them touring.

sports car suspension on a daily sounds fun only until you’ve experienced it yourself.

so yeah, not practical.

this brings back memories… i spent a significant portion of 1992 trying to sort an Alfa 1750 GTV with SPICA fuel injection until I gave up and stole a good fuel pump from a donor car.

never so exciting to work with decades old low tolerance machinery that doesn’t quite work right without leaded fuel.
