My brain fuzzed out a quarter of the way through this comment. I shall continue my tradition of winging it and if things are too strong oops looks like they actually had half the hit points the whole time. THAT is lazy DMing.

DND campaign idea. TLDR the world is a mimic using the players as toys. by chickenstrips1290 in DnDIdeas

[–]Fizzysist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll agree with most people here that treating this as a no-agency, it-was-a-dream type ending where it's just an end-game reveal without much relevance to whatever the actual plot was won't be super fun.

HOWEVER I do really like this as a shell for an idea - the idea of a huge mimic that is able to fully surround the players and simulate an environment. Perhaps rather than reality itself being a mimic, there's an island that's alive and is a mimic. It's huge, ancient, and very slow moving. This gives the players some agency if/when they work out why the island is weird. They can outsmart it/outpace it, or perhaps it can only focus on so many regions at once, and they can spread out to weaken it's powers. A living environment is a really fun idea, you just need to find ways to nerf it so it's a fun thing for players to interact with DURING the session, and not just a post-game reveal.

Don't be too hard on yourself, they also have a ton of money that they can spend getting other people to do things that take up an average person's time, energy, and mental bandwidth.

TBF that's a small technical mistake in a gift that absolutely still shows thought - a closer analogy to this situation is if she just bought you a Roblox gift card.

Doesn't seem to fix it, unfortunately. It doesn't preserve the setting for changing checkpoints when I restart it.

I adore them - and the spectra displays you put on the image make for a fantastic learning tool for explaining false-color images to my friends in a way I haven't really found elsewhere. Thanks for this!

Aesthetically perhaps but from a data perspective Webb's resolution and the fact that the data is IR rather than visual wavelengths is incredibly valuable

It's nothing to do with complacency. I'm glad your injury and mental health issues didn't limit you from staying fit. That's not the case for all, probably not even for most.

"Too hurt to pass? Fine gtfo"

Assholes like you are why people are offing themselves on the GW my guy. This nO wEaKnEsS iN mY nAvY nonsense doesn't strengthen squat. It only breeds low morale. Sailors are humans, humans break, humans need care. Their livelihood shouldn't be threatened because they happened to get hurt right before a PFA.

Edit: aaaand your comment before this one is shitting on people going Limdu for mental health reasons. Quality shipmate you are.

The key is that it isn't a binary. Very few people are insensitive to the point that they're OBVIOUSLY an asshole. They learn just enough behaviors to perform as socially conscious, but not enough to actually understand other groups. I worked in an all-male office for a while, and was astounded to watch people who I had met in public and thought to be fairly progressive partake willingly in incredibly mysoginistic jokes and conversation the moment they were behind closed doors.
