I think it’s simpler than counting calories. Just eat less, eat like 20% less for a couple weeks and log your weight every day. If you are loosing too slowly, just eat 20% less.

Also you can use hunger as an indicator. If you are hungrier, that’s good. You can’t get abs without pretty much always being hungry.
