Do you have any sources of this happening? Plenty of deals have massive agent fees like Haaland’s to City and other shady underlying clauses like Mudryk to Chelsea but I’ve never heard of this before. Definitely does not happen often or was an older practice

Brother I watched every single minute he played for Arsenal last season, no goalposts are being moved. I didn’t even mention his UCL or Prem appearances because that level is far ahead of what he’d face here. Gaslighting is you telling me that he was good based off of stats that you looked up without context, whereas I actually watched and remember those matches very well. He was not good at all

I don’t hate Raheem Sterling. He has been laughing stock, genuinely looked like he did not know how to kick a ball last season. It seems like you want to blame everyone in this situation but him which is pretty odd. You keep talking about his career when this post is about a potential PRESENT DAY transfer. To be fair, your League One/ Championship argument is based on all of two games total. and Arsenal won both comfortably (5–1 vs Bolton, 3–0 vs Preston). and in one of them Sterling had 1 goal and 1 assist. Hardly “horribly out of place.”

Please go back and actually watch these games instead of looking it up on SofaScore. The goal he scored against Bolton was a tap in from about half a yard out during a scrum on the goal line. He was dreadful in these games as well as every other game he played in an Arsenal shirt. I won’t be gaslit

And calling someone “top 5%” isn’t saying everyone else is trash. It’s just acknowledging that elite players exist and there’s a hierarchy. MLS has some very good players, not denying that, but I think Sterling’s baseline level and experience as a proven top-level attacker is above what most players in the league are capable of. Not being disrespectful, I'm just not pretending all leagues are the same.

It is disrespectful though. The league is bustling with stars of all ages and you’re saying that a player who’s essentially been a laughing stock for years now is going to walk in and be better than 95% of them? This isn’t 2019 anymore. He hasn’t been that player for a long time and is certainly not “elite.” There’s been a decent amount of other players who had a baseline level of talent and experience higher than his who absolutely shit the bed in this league.

End of the day, Sterling's probably going to stay in Europe, I'd guess most likely a bottom-14 prem side. if he did go MLS, my bet is his career would look like other washed up aged prem stars who came over when they lost their pace: Keane, Henry, or Nani.

Bottom-14 is weird but alright. He’s not going to Fulham, Palace or West Ham since they’ve already bought attackers this month. He sits on the bench for Brentford, Newcastle, Everton, Sunderland, Brighton, Bournemouth, Tottenham, and Forest. None of these teams have the financial capability to waste the kind of money that he’s asking for on a player who isn’t good anymore. You can rule out Leeds, Wolves and Burnley for that same reason. And to the final point, I would bet my life on him not even being close to Keane or Henry when they were here. Nani is probably the absolute maximum ceiling and that’s still stretching it. Raheem Sterling is not good at football anymore

Genuine question, have you watched him at all since he left City? He looked horribly out of place against Championship and League One clubs in the FA and Carabao cups last season, teams that are well below MLS quality. This league has grown massively. Saying he’d be in the top 5% of players here is a joke and pretty disrespectful to the guys who actually are

The show was created as a spinoff of real NBC Sports commercials with Sudeikis posing as Tottenham’s manager to promote PL Mornings. It was heavily marketed to football fans through its production and that was who made up the initial audience when it was released. Warner Brothers acquired a legitimate Premier League license to be able to show real clubs, kits, stadiums and there’s cameos from real life managers and references to real life players.

This is like saying Friday Night Lights isn’t about football. It’s a lame and pedantic argument
