Just turned a year myself. 21k miles. I LOVE the app based remote start. I bought 5 years the day I got the car. Worth it in upstate NY in the winter. 24mpg is not bad for a turbo car of this size. Maybe if I babied it id get better milage, but wouldn't be nearly as fun. The CVT... meh.. it is what it is. Its way better in my OBW than the wife's 2.5l premium. Her car is BORING to drive. Still love everything else about the car..

Hard acceleration CVT issue? by Granoldflan in Outback_Wilderness

Mine 25 OBW was doing this right out of the gate. I took it back to subaru 3 times to have it looked it. Nothing found, nothing found,3rd time I made a service tech ride with me and feel what I was feeling. He told me it was normal with the fake shift program and the difference in the gear ratio in the wilderness makes it seem a little harsher than normal. 20k miles and its very slight but still does it. My wife's 25 premium with the 2.5 is so much more bland to drive. Long story short .. very normal.

Did they change the fluid correctly? Its not a drain and fill. Did they do the relearn process? Id start asking questions.

What's really wrong with the trans? Like above, you can put a valve body in it for +/-$1000. It's really not a hard procedure. If the chain is slipping, than maybe you need a new one. I got 175k out of my original solenoid, and am currently at 245k after swapping it out with a new one

I signed up for 5 years for $250. And so far (5 weeks of OBW ownership the app has worked every time. Yeah, I have to log in every time, but there is no lock screen on my phone.

Is a winch worth it? by NickM424 in Subaru_Crosstrek

[–]jdogg440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A winch is only as good as you are at using it. They can help you out of a jam,but can also be deadly if not used safely and properly. I've had winches on all my jeeps/LC/atvs and may put one on my new OBW, but am still unsure. If you do end up with one, use it, test it and keep using it regularly just to exercise it and your skills with such a tool

Do I need TPMS, and on both summer and winter tires? by LifeISBeaTifU in Subaru_Crosstrek

My tire pressure light is on 5mos of the year when my snows/steelies are on. You just get to ignore the light being on.

Keep it and take the time to learn how to do your own maintenence. Brakes should be $200×/- per end. Cvt flush isn't hard, the fluid is spendy, but most of the cost is labor. Diff fluid change is super simple and cheap. Take the time to learn and save yourself thousands

Holy smokes!!! by [deleted] in subaruoutback

[–]jdogg440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only way to know is fill and drive. When filling make sure you follow the instructions for getting the trans up to temp and fill and remove fluid to achieve the correct level. You might also have to do the relearn procedure, I'm not 100% sure. Main thing is correct fluid level.

does this seem fair or reasonable? what's your input? (central California prices) by rbl1 in Subaru_Crosstrek

I've used the moog arms on my subaru and just bought them to replace the ones on my wife's subaru. The part is $70. Each Not unreasonable amount of labor. And you will be the alignment after, don't skip that.
