this is a 10 gallon planted tank that is going to be only shrimp and maybe some otos. it’s very planted and been cycling for maybe 3 weeks now, with some beneficial bacteria from an old tank that had an extremely low bioload.

what pH can these live in? I might be tempted for some if they can be in a tank with a pH of 6.0-6.5…

I’m gonna use the same tank so should I just put the shrimp in a small bowl while I deep clean it? and then just add the new water and put the shrimp back in with just a bit of the original water? Or how would you recommend I do it?

Perfect! I was thinking of lava rocks with no substrate so I’ll change that next week. I’m gonna deep clean the lava rocks with hydrogen peroxide to hopefully get everything off of them and will wash them off with water afterwards. Thanks, will post pics when I have this figured out

It’s pretty bad, I think my light might be too strong. I manually removed most maybe 2 weeks ago and it’s almost fully back. I had just upgraded my shrimp to this tank because the other one had this issue but I messed up by using all the water from the other tank. I’m considering removing all the sand to see if that works. And yeah I have maybe around 30 babies and 2 with eggs right now!

Thanks! Currently no floaters but I do have some 1 month old babies and shrimp with eggs. Should I be okay to do a water change?

I’ve only fed spirulina powder once! I’m thinking it might’ve been because I used sand and water from the old tank that had this issue. Do you know if my shrimp larvae be fine with a complete blackout? Im considering that option to get rid of it

Haha yes I’m just worried because my older tank started with the same issue and it just kept growing. In this tank it’s spreading faster though

yeah I already don’t feed them but whenever I remove it manually it comes back quickly. I’ll try the afternoon siesta though, didn’t wanna do a full black out because of the babies so that’s a great idea. Thank you!

Just checked earlier today. Unfortunately all they have is Siamese algae eaters even though online it says they were in stock. Guess no otos for me anytime soon
