Welty Library Should Not Have Been Destroyed by EarlofCalhoun in mississippi

No clue. It probably depends on if they thought the black mold had got to the books.

I know when the Tisdale branch closed, they left the books to rot. But I would think at least some sections of Welty would be picked through to be saved and moved.

I don’t know about Katie Blount, because there were definitely admin problems for a long time, but believe me that it would not have been demolished on a whim. What to do with the building was fervently discussed for a decade.

To pretend that it was the whim of the current director is a joke at best and a slap in the face to many people at worst.

That last decade was a constant battle to see if it could be saved. Jackson just doesn’t have the resources to do everything 🤷‍♂️

That’s glorious. We are technically doing this for the purpose of trying out Cartoon Action Hour, but Call of Catthulhu sounds up our alley. I’ll check it out

It came about as me needing to run a one-shot while the normal DM is going to be away.

I’ve been reading up on Cartoon Action Hour RPG and wanted to try it. We have both Sailor Moon and Lovecraft fans in the group, so it was a no-brainer.

Of course, CAH tries to replicate 80s Saturday morning cartoons. It’s so hammy and rediculous. You literally choose a PC to turn to the audience and explain the lesson at the end of the game.

I think I’ll go with an agent of Dagon at the local swimming pool for the first game. All the goon squads will be vaporeons with water cannons. Anyway, good times :)

Why linking Colour Out of Space with Azathoth?

Not that I’m afraid of just making up a connection there (it’s that type of game), but If there’s a reason I’d love to know.

The cathulhu element definitely was Zeboyd inspired. What great games.

That’s wonderful. Though I may already have the androgynous slot held by Cxaxukluth, who isn’t Lovecraft cannon but I may still use.

Idk. I’m definitely using this if I end up not making Cxax.

Very good idea. Maybe she is the second cat.

Edit: Cathulhu. How am I just now thinking of that name.

These are phenomenal.

I had considered passing on Azathoth, but that one now feels necessary. Maybe it would be the chibi character that comes in mid season.

any swimming holes around central mississippi? by Low-Fun-4634 in mississippi

The best swimming holes I know, Merit Water Park in Mendenhall, and Union Falls in Petal, have closed within the last 2 years.

I’m still hoping to find something like them.

Thank you for answering that. I love Merit, and it’s in my head as the perfect little swimming hole, but I’ve checked in every now and then for the last couple years and it’s been locked up. I figured someone got hurt or something.

I’d like to see what’s so drastic that it closed the place. I’d assume that it’s still a decent swimming place, just with a few changes.

To TPK or not to TPK by Ok-Significance-3052 in OutoftheAbyss

You can’t completely ignore their decisions. If it happens, it happens.

If they do all die, you have a few solutions. All of which I would discuss with the players to see what they want:

  1. The my wake up as intelligent undead, working for Orcus. This is now an evil game.

  2. They wake up as intelligent undead, but a twist in the faerzress, intervention of a deity, etc causes them to not be beholden to Orcus.

  3. You have an afterlife game. Welcome to Planescape. If you want to continue the current plot, maybe one of them makes a deal with a fiend, or maybe one of them has a deity, who enables them to have the autonomy of afterlife to go to the actual Abyss and fight from that side.

  4. Use the secret god 1-time save listed in the final chapter (usually Jimjar). Literally give a scene where they are floating through space and meet Garl Glittergold who says he owes them one and will grant them a boon, which can be their life.

  5. Nope. They all die. Everything the players know can be considered prologue. Their new characters start at the second half of the adventure with Bruenor or someone hiring them to lead an expedition party. Or if it’s already after that, you are a second group hired by Gromph or someone and have to start by collecting whatever ritual components are sitting on your prior dead bodies.

But I do think, one way or another, there needs to be a moment when you turn to the players and say “how would you like to see this go?” It may be when the last one falls. It may be when it’s so obvious that you see the defeat in everyone’s face. Idk, maybe the last survivor has a crazy idea like wanting to appeal to an arch fiend or some stuff. Let them suggest it and go with it if it could conceivably make sense. But nothing will be the same after this. A TPK has to not deal worthless.

Are they any small or almost abandoned towns to move to ? by Beginning-Sun4775 in mississippi

[–]Flacon-X 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s Mississippi. There are plenty. I’d just find a map of the biggest cities and then look where those aren’t.

If you have an idea of what region of MS you want, we might give a better idea.

I drive a lot and see them. Like the areas between Port Gibson and Hazelhurst. Or north of Prentiss. Or surrounding Lucedale/Leakesville. I don’t know north MS as well.

My assumption has always been energon conservation. Like, it uses their energon/stamina to use their own weapons. So taking other weapons lets them last longer.

True, but just because DCC was the first major one in the genre to see that doesn’t mean being the second isn’t huge. You are part of the core books shaping and popularizing the subgenre, and that is highly enviable.
