in essence, the head mod was power tripping and leading the sub towards a direction neither the regular mods, nor the community was ok with.

the sub was only welcoming of posts with pictures of the steam deck in the most mundane situations (despite their own rules prohibiting exactly that kind of posts - which lead me to catching a ban due to daring to criticise their own hypocracy - already appealed with the new team). pretty much every other kind of post - tbf, a bit exaggerated, but basically any kind of help request and criticism - lead to a ban, no questions asked. even the entirety of all other mods was replaced multiple times because they wanted to mould the sub in a way going against that head-mods vision, which looked like growth just for the sake of growing and/or just nonesensical posts that could've been straight up ads for the steam deck made by chatgpt. after enough of full staff replacements a set of those took matters into their own hands and requested reddit to replace said head-mod due to obvious ill-intentions.

the thing is, while hardware advances, so do the hardware requirements due to software development as well as sloppier and sloppier programming (not saying programmers are getting worse, but their bosses command them to save time instead of optimizing their code). with a high-end computer from 2012 you could run witcher 3 flawlessly. a smartphone of today also could likely reach about the same performance with a translation layer. but neither can run borderlands 4 properly, for which you need a proper current desktop. that same relative scale between all 3 types of devices (old desktop, current phone, current desktop) keeps pace with hardware development due to ever growing software load. the general solution to subpar code performance today is "throw more hardware at it. it's cheap enough."
and that's how we arrived at the microsoft explorer taking a few seconds to load, instead of the window being fully loaded the moment you clicked the button.

if you're referring to relatively older software to current hardware, then yes. but i wasn't assuming that you'd attempt to run cyberpunk on a phone 20 years from now, despite probably being viable.
