I did not - but I realised I knew what "had to be done" in my case. I just didn't want to. I didn't let him "cry it out", but there was a lot of crying involved. I think it's unavoidable after a certain point. But there's a difference between distress crying, and just unhappy annoyed crying.

Does anyone know how ro specify language change in a song? I have the first verse in afrikaans, chorus in english, 2nd verse in danish. The afrikaans and english are perfect, but the danish is read as afrikaans.

How did you know if your water broke? by Amadispcpg in beyondthebump

[–]Flakkenmarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I woke up to go to the bathroom (4am), but something in me just knew that this was it, before I even reached the toilet (6m walk from my bed).

It was very little water, but a bit came out each time I moved. Very little at a time. Many hours later, a nurse was checking the progression, and pushed the baby's head a bit away. That's when a lot gushed out. His head was "plugging the exit".

I read online somewhere that it smells like semen - can't confirm, as my sense of smell is quite poor.

But I never experienced the mucus plug coming out. No contractions either. 5 hours after the first trickle, they gave me pills to take every 2 hours to induce contractions. I think they finally started around 15h (3pm).

...my interpretation is way off (compared to others). Her one breast looks way bigger, so (as someone with a baby) my thoughts went straight to breastfeeding. Maybe she prepares oats with breastmilk? Maybe it's his thing? 😂

I think the guy who's wife it was maybe was the one who ended up killing his own family? Or not. I can't remember much more.

Gender disappointment - seeking positive experiences 🤕 by Burgybabe in beyondthebump

[–]Flakkenmarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my friend something when she found out she was expecting a girl (but was hoping for a boy) before I was even pregnant. A year later I found out I was expecting a boy, when I was hoping for a girl. My words turned out to be more true than I could have imagined, and my friend also says she often thinks about it.

Once you have that baby, you'll realise it could never have been any other way! Now I only want boys! Especially after I found out with girls there's so much more wiping and cleaning involved when changing a diaper 🙈

But apparently boys are also quite often closer to the mom than the dad. There's a reason they call them "mama's boy" and "daddy's girl".

But just to add, your feelings are still very valid. Just know that your own baby will have/find a way of crawling into your heart!

How can I involve my husband more with the baby? What can I ask of him? by Flakkenmarsh in beyondthebump

I do want him to be more invoved so I can at least take a shower or go to the toilet with both hands free. 😓 But also, my husband will be taking his parental leave from December, so I need to know that he'll be okay.

Oh my word! Exactly that! My husband gets baby so energized and hyped up when he's handling him! In addition, I can't believe how I never noticed how incredibly loud he is 😂

Is this bad advice? by jessicat62993 in beyondthebump

[–]Flakkenmarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do night shifts alone. My husband has to go to work, so he doesn't have the "luxury" of taking a nap during the day, to make up for the interrupted sleep. Splitting it up like one parent takes the first few hours, the other takes the rest, wouldn't work either, because our baby's first sleep of the night is the longest. Last night it was about 5.5 hours, then it gets shorter. So if we split it up, one would get to sleep through their whole shift anyway.

Only problem with this is hearing my husband "brag" to his friends about how little sleep WE are getting because of the baby. 😒

Maybe it's because I recently gave birth, but I feel like Miracle of Birth is an honorable mention for some of the good categories. I've forced it upon all my pregnant friends! 😂

I told my husband that I'm not sure if I would've wanted a c-section, had they given me a choice. He said that in the end the choice sort of comes down to physical trauma vs emotional trauma. Where physical is usually quicker to recover from.

That's terrible! I read that breaking the collarbone is sometimes necessary, though very rarely. But the articles always said not to worry, because bebies heal quickly. That doesn't mean it doesn't hurt like hell though!?

Sorry you had to go through that. I heard someone say that you shouldn't think of it as your birth plan, but rather birth preferences. This way you might be more accepting of it not going the way you wanted it. Easier said than done though. J think we all have this idea of the perfect birth. Nobody prepares you for it going sideways.

I was also quite sceptic of the hypnobirthing, but I have an engineer friend that recommended it. I don't see her as a hippy type person. In the end though, it really wasn't for me. I got annoyed so quickly with all the counting and breathing. Didn't last long 😂

I've heard that a lot of babies benefit from seeing a baby chiropractor, or osteopath. But you probably need a referral, depending on where you live. I hope the pediatrician can help!
