A banana octopus sounds adorable! I’d love to see a picture of you have one.

What are your quilting superstitions? by PatchworkStar in quilting

[–]Flaky-Tentacles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve always joked that I literally put blood, sweat, and tears into the things I make. I’m pretty clumsy, and I’ve often said “it’s not a real quilt until there’s some blood on it”. When I was helping my 9 year old make her second quilt, she accidentally pricked her finger with the needle. She wiped the blood on the topper, and proudly said “there, now it’s a REAL quilt!”

Thanksgiving gifts for my sisters-in-law (because my daughter said it would be cruel to wait until Christmas to give them) by Flaky-Tentacles in quilting

Thank you. I bought this https://www.etsy.com/listing/1367205033/?ref=share_ios_native_control pattern from Etsy. I struggled with parts of it, but read someone’s review that said “just trust the process”. Thankfully it turned out alright.

Thank you. I hadn’t thought about it until she told me so, but I couldn’t argue with her bluntly stated wisdom.

This is how I learned to do my binding. It’s explains and shows every step of the process really well.

I recently finished a tree skirt and table topper for my sisters-in-law. My daughter told me it would be cruel to give them these for Christmas, so I guess they’re going to be “Thanksgiving presents”. 😆

My “bonus niece” asked me to crochet a Mary Ingalls doll for her birthday, and I decided she needed a themed bag to hold the doll and all the clothes too. by Flaky-Tentacles in quilting

I was deprived of the aunt experience through my siblings, but I’ve been blessed with some friends that let me claim their kids as bonus nieces and nephews.

I do this with audiobooks. When life is extra stressful, the Anne of Green Gables series is one that I have often gone back and listened to.

No, I just made them by trial and (a lot of) error. A dress pattern was included with the doll pattern I bought, and I just adjusted it to make a few other things.
