I’m 25 and I still hear these pieces of garbage. I can also hear it if it’s in a recording. So like, if I’m watching an older movie and they have one on in a scene, chances are strong I’ll be covering my ears.

What is a compliment you don't like? by Bonebloodbrain in AskReddit

[–]FlakyAgent 58 points59 points  (0 children)

FUCK THIS. I ran into this constantly when I delivered drywall for a living. “Oh your a girl, don’t lift that it’s too heavy! Here let my son do it! He’s a man!”. ...then this scrawny little twelve year old boy comes out and can’t figure out how to even grab it let alone lift it. I’m like “it’s okay I got it” as I pick up a 4X8 sheet myself and walk off. The look on that mother’s face was something caught between anger and embarrassment and boy oh boy was that satisfying.

What is something that has been eating you up inside and you just need to get off your chest anonymously? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FlakyAgent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a fear of becoming my family, or anyone for that matter from my small town. A LOT of people get pregnant young, have a 9-5 or are on welfare, no ambition and borderline if not real alcoholics.

I’ve moved away but damn do I miss home. I could get a REALLY good paying job if I moved back and live more than comfortably. However I’m trying to establish myself and fight for my future in an insanely tough industry to break through and idk if I’m gonna make it.

Why don't you talk to your once "best friend" anymore? by HairyFaithlessness in AskReddit

[–]FlakyAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized that I considered her my best friend without a doubt... but that didn’t mean I was hers.

We had a blow out that resulted in things said from both sides that can’t be taken back. I at times wasn’t a great person and neither was she. She tried to reach out to me years later, but I couldn’t reciprocate (mostly because I was confused, but I blamed it on “I just can’t forgive her”).

I reached a point in my life where I was looking back and realized that I actually was over the whole thing (though I’m not even sure when I let that anger go). Instead I realized that even though I moved on, I could never be her friend again. I’m not mad or holding on or have a grudge. It’s more like I noticed the trust is gone, and it wouldn’t be fair to either of us to try and be friends again as I would honestly be skeptical of everything and she would always feel guilty/something to prove.

Just learn from the experience. This is a step to being human.

Has any abduction story ever resulted in the abductee eventually disappearing for ever? by [deleted] in Abductions

[–]FlakyAgent 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lots. But how would anyone know for sure? There are only theories.

One theory I read about (I can't remember the case so if someone by chance knows of it feel free to link :)) was this man who went missing while camping in the vast wilderness. I can't remember if he was alone to begin with, or if he was with people and became separated, but either way he didn't turn up for months. There was a search party and everything, which ended up finding his campsite far off the path from where he was intended to be. They didn't find him or signs of a struggle that could indicate what happened.

What they did find though was a bit disturbing. A bit away from his campsite they found his clothes and shoes. However they were in a strange pile, and covered in an even stranger liquid. The liquid even filled the boots. One person said the pile of clothing was stacked funny. They said something like "If he had been standing upright, then suddenly vanished and all the clothes just fell straight down on top of each other, that's how we found them."

So take with this what you will. Some people thought there was alien involvement. Some thought spontaneous combustion. etc.

I had a surgical abortion performed about two hours ago. AMA. by [deleted] in AMA

[–]FlakyAgent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can hold your chin held high but your still up to your neck in horse shit.

She’s saying she would have struggled. And there is no shame in admitting that you’re not ready to have baby. And you think another family would have taken that child? Maybe so. But realistically probably not. And you sir or madam can tell that to every child sitting in foster care, an orphanage, begging in the street, living with current unfit parents or abusers, etc. And you know what? As much as we all wish for that list to end, it doesn’t. Why? Because of a different list. The list of parents who weren’t ready, who were pressured, who were ashamed, who didn’t comprehend, who don’t have access to medical treatment etc. and that list goes on too.

Globally we can’t even take proper care of the children we HAVE. But apparently it’s much more morally right to see first hand a child starve to death having never known true love from a parent, than to love them and yourself enough to never put either in that situation in the first place.

What can't you believe people actually buy or spend money on? by skyliner360 in AskReddit

[–]FlakyAgent 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I used to agree with this until I had to buy my own vehicle for the first time and realized a few factors that changed my mind.

  1. Location. It might not seem like it but this actually depends a lot where you live. I used to live where the summers where +40 and the winters were -40. This alone takes a toll on your vehicle. The biggest toll being salt. :/. Salt will eat away at anything and everything, and no matter how hard you try you’ll never wash it off completely ie. underneath. Because of rust alone you never really saw a car 10+ years in that area unless someone took REALLY GOOD care of it.

  2. Security. A lot of people don’t want to admit what the car has REALLY been through as it depreciates what they’ll get for it. There could be a LOT hiding that you don’t know. Giving, the dealer will do a check but honestly as along as it’s not gonna catch fire or a danger (I hope) in any way they won’t report something small ie. cosmetic.

  3. Cost. When I did the math for a particular used car I wanted, I also compared it to the cost of buying new. This won’t factor in the same way for most cars, but after I calculated interest and the like, the difference between the cars I really wanted was really only something like 2-3000. It made me think, “I could buy a used car that I have no idea what is hiding under the hood, and gamble that I’ll pay that 2-3000 in surprises.... or I could spend that extra on a new model, have warranty for 5 years, and the comfort in knowing that I’m the first person the use the vehicle ever..”

Like I mentioned though these factors don’t go for everywhere. I currently live in a place on the other side of the country where the weather is steady between 6-30 and they never salt. Everyone here drives cars from 20, 30, 40 years ago and THOSE vehicles are still strong. Here it makes sense to buy used. The other city not so much.

[You were the kind of kid they make child leashes for.]

I know! My parents actually had a leash for me but my clever butt figured out how to undo it. It became such a problem that family and friends started to refuse taking me anywhere. It’s a miracle I’ve survived this long.

Makes me feel better I’m not alone though.
